Audio hobby complete - tweaks are great

Quote: Patrick.. Again another self-promoting thread.... ooh another valhalla tweak. Reading your threads makes me not even want to think about updating parts of my system. Anyway, I think you do this for the attention.... I found a link to a forum in which you pretend to not know...

    Why plastic?

I think working with anything with small airborne fibres must be bad. I'm sure there was some link between particle size and cancer.

The advantage of aftermarket power cables

Quote: I don't live next to a "smelting plant", nor does my apartment have a "lot of brownouts" but the power conditioner (a Furman PL-8 Series II) I added to my system definitely eliminated the hum that was produced when I plugged my amp and CD player directly into the wall outlets. This...

    Cardas Myrtle Wood Blocks

Quote: The point isn't to convince people who've proved many times in the past that they won't listen to reason. It's to make sure that a newbie doesn't stumble across this thread and think that the unsubstantiated mojo they're talking about actually works. The same three posters are adept...

    Cardas Myrtle Wood Blocks

I think all these threads degenerating into the same boring aruements is ridiculous. Although I agree with people like bigshot I think it would be nice to just leave these threads alone. There is nothing constructive gained by arguing, no one is convinced. Admin can we have a sceptics forum?

Anyone seen the million dollar cable challenge?

BTW I think if not one single "qualified" human being can tell the difference between these cables and win the money this forum should be renamed to "Paranormal Jewellery for your HiFi, and speakers", just to clear things up for everyone. Or may be just have a sticky disclaimer stating that all...

Truth about Nordost Valhalla power cord

Anyone seen the million dollar cable challenge?

A UFO beamed my cables up last night and this morning there was a night and day difference! I'm going to get in contact with this guy. Of course I didn't hear it, my dead husband did!

does quality of optical cables have effect on SQ?

Quote: 2. Errors This usually causes very significant changes in the sound, often loud popping noises but occasionally less offensive effects. Any data loss or errors in either are a sign of a very broken link which is probably intermittently dropping out altogether...

does quality of optical cables have effect on SQ?

It is important to make sure your optical is plugged in the right way round too, contrary to popular belief glass does have a direction, preferring to let photons flow one way more than another. As manufacturers generally don't label the correct direction of photon flow it is important to...

does quality of optical cables have effect on SQ?

I agree, the ones from target give much more transparency to the music, with a deeper bass. Possibly because the mid range is slightly rolled off? Although I heard someone wrapped ESR paper around the Wal-Mart and the sound stage was greatly improved!

Is copper warmer because of signal loss?

Quote: Hey, why is everybody so intent on "proving" to anybody else whether or not they can hear differences in cables or not? Just go listen for yourself and make up your own mind! If you hear differences, fine, if you don't, fine. The point is that most people will probably "hear" a...

Is copper warmer because of signal loss?

Well I think we will have to agree to disagree. While I do appreciate the work that goes into some of these cables I just cannot believe that a human is able to detect differences that state of the art machines cannot, or that in this case DBT is not appropriate or reliable (this is something...

Is copper warmer because of signal loss?

Quote: Well, I haven't, but maybe that's just lack of experience. What you're saying is at least plausible, though. The dielectric certainly can help reduce capacitance, induction and crosstalk. Whether audibly, I dunno (skeptical) but measureably, sure! But I don't believe that the...

Is copper warmer because of signal loss?
