Help choosing between d-Jays and q-Jays

Friends, I've finally come to realize my need for a better IEM for use with my iPod Classic. I've been using the Sennheiser CX300 for a good while now, which worked good with my iriver (with EQ) but they are not that fun on a flat EQ. What I like with the CX300 - Bass goes DEEP. With...

    Stepping up from HD555

My HD555's have done a good job both entertaining and surprising, but I do get the feeling they lack something sometimes. After recently upgrading my source (EMU 0202 USB) and hearing a great difference from my old X-Fi, I'm getting pretty curious about what change I might hear from a new set of...

    Upgrading from CX300

While I like the impact of the bass of my CX300, I feel I miss something. I'm looking for a more detailed sound, with cleaner impact. These are a couple of IEM's that fit my price range and availability: JAYS d-Jays JAYS q-Jays Shure SE210 Denon AH-C551 Ultimate Ears Super.fi 3 Studio...

    Next step from HD555?

So the deal is, I own a pair of Grado SR60 and a pair of Sennheiser HD555. For my metal needs, the SR60's does their job in a great way. I love them. I enjoy my HD555 for my other music (rock, electronica, jazz, everything else), paired with a Pro-Ject Headbox MkII. The phones have their...

    X-Fi, difference in line-outs?

Sup Head-Fi. I was seeing this picture of the X-Fi XtremeMusic connections (I was planning on going X-Fi->Amp->Headphones in one line out and X-Fi->PC Speakers on another line out): And noticed they showed Headphones on Line out 1, and speakers on line out 3. Is there any differences in...

    Ripping time with EAC. Awful.

I've been using EAC and Lame for my ripping needs for a very long time now, but it've started to feel so tedious lately, since it takes about 50 minutes to rip a CD. I wonder, am I doing anything wrong here? :P I rip my CD's into WAV and then convert them to 256VBR with Lame, which EAC handles.

Cheap but good headphones, unamped, for computer.

Fellow Head-Fiers. Apart from my listening rig, I do spend quite a lot of time in front of my computer, which includes listening to music. My computer have an X-Fi XtremeMusic which I am pleased with, and out of that I run my quarter and kramer modded Porta Pro. Actually, I'm satisfied with...

    DT770 vs. DT990. Unamped.

Heya. So I happened to notice that one of my local retailers are selling their DT770 and DT990 much cheaper at the moment, and it got me thinking. Maybe I should get a new can? The problem is which one to choose. The price tag is the same. Open or closed is not an issue for me, it doesn't...

    Your Favorite Cover Art

I can't be the only one around here fascinated with great album covers. My idea with this thread was for us to share our favorite cover art - be it CD, Vinyl, SACD or even Tape. Post your art and preferably a small comment about it. Is it a cover which awakens memories for you? Does it...

    Cheap PC-setup (Soundblaster Live?)

Dear Head-fi. I have this small problem. During my time on Head-Fi, i've been more and more craving about my sound quality. I've aquired a good soundcard, amp and speakers, which is great. The only problem is, my parents are divorced, and I spend every other week at each of my parents...

    Tweaking X-Fi XtremeMusic and Foobar.

Hello there. I finally got my thumb out and upgraded my Onboard AC97 Sound to an X-Fi XtremeMusic. I use Foobar and send the sound out to an amplifier from Marantz (not optical or SPDIF or so, just normal 3.5mm cable). Are there any ways of tweaking the card (via software) and Foobar for...

EDIT (February 8th, 2007): I saw that somebody just bumped this. This post was created long ago. Don't waste your time on it Hi. So I've been sitting on my integrated AC97/SoundMAX-soundcard and a pair of Philips SBC-HP895, and I feel I really want some more out of my music. There's...

    Creative EP630 properties?

So I finally got around bying these little babies. I was very happy about it, but when I plugged them in on the train, I got a bit disappointed with the sound. When I came home, I tried changing the silicon buds to one size smaller, just for fun, and when I tried them on, it seems like the sound...
