If replacing the fuse does wonders for SQ i wonder what changes replacing the volume pot for a high quality stepped attenuator would bring - only I'm not sure what the specs/impedance value is.
@No Deal, that’s a very nice rig. I use a Stefan AudioArt Endorphin ribbon power cable on my WA22 which I plug into its own isolated wall socket. What exactly will a Purple Fuse do for my Woo amplifiers? I ask because I’ve never tried one.
Thank you. I have since added the 421A tubes and all I can say is that there is probably something better out there but for now this is all I need. The Calderas and the tubes are making it difficult to go back to the solid-state setup on the other side of my desk.
Regarding the fuse, I concur with AudioDuck. Also, my amps are connected to the Transparent Powerwave via an Audio Art power cable. My power cable is not as nice as the Stefan Audio Art, but I am curious about it now.
I have both the 1945 Sylvania 6SNW and the 1952 6SN7GT. I took an immediate liking to the 'W'. I will give the 'GT' a fair listen soon.
I struggle with being able to wax poetically about the sound of the WA22 amp and these tubes with the genre of music (jazz) that I listen too, but this is really good.
Hello, wanted to share my experience with Woo WA7 so far
I like it a lot. Not only it’s beautiful and solid as a rock, it also sounds great. It elevates my hd800s to a completely new level, giving it depth and a nice bass. WA7 is what makes my 800s alive. It makes everything sound more silky smooth, without loosing too many details or adding noise. I don’t use a nice solid state I have anymore.
But pairing it with a Chord Hugo2 DAC was such a great decision…. This was my best purchase so far. Though I don’t have experience with any other DAC, Hugo gives a huge stage and improves clarity and detail retrieval by a lot. To me it’s a bigger improvement than switching from Focal Clear to ZMF Atrium, a total game changer. And only after this improvement I could start appreciating my Atriums.
Soon I’ll be able to compare it to the icon HP8 MKII amp with upgraded tubes.

Yes, same thing on my mind… Also it has 2 outputs, right? XLR and RCA. So I’ll be able to have 2 amps connected, a solid and a tube one, that would be awesome.

One of the greatest features of higher-end Schiit DACs is their versatility with three analog outputs (1 XLR, 2 RCA), so you can get their lovely sound to as many amplifiers as possible…

I have a 4 channel RCA switchbox and a 5 channel XLR switchbox hooked up to my Yggdrasil. I'd use the 2nd RCA for more amps, but I ran out of room with 9...
