Hey Mike. That would be cool. Use the WA22 as a pre into the WA8.

That would be Woo-tastic!

Would the WA2 and the Diana DZ pair well? Or would sparks and crying ensue?

.... or even "fear and loathing" ....Would the WA2 and the Diana DZ pair well? Or would sparks and crying ensue?
@jonathan c is right. They won't pair well at all. The WA2 is an OTL amp and works best with high impedance headphones. Since you want to drive the Diana DZ with your amp you will want an amp that works for lower impedance headphones. You will want to go to the WA6, WA22, WA5, ect in the Woo lineup.Would the WA2 and the Diana DZ pair well? Or would sparks and crying ensue?

Thanks. I already have the WA2 for my Senns. Would it hurt anything to try it with the Dianas? If it sounds bad, well then lesson learned, but it wouldn't break the amp or the headphones, right?@jonathan c is right. They won't pair well at all. No harm. To simplify, the issue is that the Diana has a lower impedance of 40 ohms, whereas the OTL design of the WA2 provides maximum power for headphones with a higher impedance (300 to 600 ohm). So you won't be getting great output power and when that is mixed with Abyss headphones that need a bit more juice you may not get enough volume to listen to.
Tbh, I don't know if even the WA22 has enough power for the Diana

Like @elwappo99 said, no harm at all. Except maybe to your ears being offended by the sound.Thanks. I already have the WA2 for my Senns. Would it hurt anything to try it with the Dianas? If it sounds bad, well then lesson learned, but it wouldn't break the amp or the headphones, right?

I will get my adapter sometime tomorrow and try it. Let me know if anyone is interested in how it sounds. I just figured I wanted to try tubes with the Dianas and already had the WA2. I might look into a WA6SE sometime. Seems to have lots of power according to the user manual.Like @elwappo99 said, no harm at all. Except maybe to your ears being offended by the sound.
I’m mildly curious, though I’m mostly commenting to note that as expected, my ZMF Caldera Closed (lower impedance planars) did NOT sound good at all with my WA2… though I figured they would. (The CCs sounded muffled and muddy, lacking any transient detail. Pretty awful.)

I am not skilled at describing sound, but I will post here good or bad.I’m mildly curious, though I’m mostly commenting to note that as expected, my ZMF Caldera Closed (lower impedance planars) did NOT sound good at all with my WA2… though I figured they would. Very similar situation.

edit since it won't let me consecutive post:
I just got the adapter I needed.
Initial impression after literally 4 mins. is not that bad. Not perfect though. Bass is a little uncontrolled, but nothing I couldn't live with. Took more volume than my senns. 12 o'clock versus 9 o'clock.
Sorry I can't do better in the description of what I am hearing.
For reference I am using the "Dark Crystal" expanded soundtrack (disc 1) as an initial test track(s) and it's not the best recording IMO. But I like the music and it is challenging to reproduce on a system.
Obviously this is all very preliminary and it will take longer to get a better sense of the sound. The more I listen the more I get a sense of it.
I am using the vegan bass ported pads.
System is: laptop- audioquest pearl usb 10 ft.- yggy+ LiM- Audioquest Mackenzie- Woo Audio 2 with some Tung Sol 5998 for power tubes and other NOS tubes for driver and rectifier- TRS adapter to stock balanced cable to Diana DZ.
Update:
Yeah I didn't listen much this AM when I posted that. And not very loud. I just tried it again, turned the volume up louder and it sounded bad. That's the only word that applies. Sorry 'bout that. Ignore my previous impressions above.

We need more info on the WA33 2nd gen with the direct drive ribbon output. Other than the ribbon portion, what else is different? Will there be an Elite version? When does it come out?
I know it was supposed to be at some show this weekend. Has anybody heard it? How was it?
