Whats the best Balanced Armature iem you have ever tried?

ER-4 for me too. They are right down my alley. I didn't get the 4S model so I bought 4PT and then added a 270 ohm resistor adapter and drive them through Just Audio AHA 120. They are awesome.

The only downside for adding a 270 ohm resistor is that the bass is almost completely gone. :frowning2:

What is a balanced armature driver? what is dynamic? how many different types of drivers are there that iem companies make? What's the difference between them all? Sorry for the newb questions, I am just curious, I have Klipsch x10i's, monoprice 8230's, klipsch s4's and I have some etymotic research hf3's coming in the mail soon, I used to love the Klipsch sound signature until I got my sennheiser hd558's now they sound like they have way too much bass and the highs don't sparkle like my sennheiser's do.

Have a lookie here:

Hope it helps, Jim

Thanks AstroTurf. I will read a bit more about the filters.

I do not mind the lack of bass much on the ER-4, however, extensive listening to them make my HD-800 sound like bass monsters and I have started to hate listening to them. Same goes for the awesome Denon AH-D7000. I created a resistor adapter for Denon's too to tame their bass and give them more clarity cause I just cannot listen to them the way I used to anymore.

Kewl, By all means let us know how you like it.

Oh man...  This will be a long list...

Westone W4R == Phonak PFE232 > Logitech Ultimate Ears UE900 > Heir Audio 3.Ai > Nocs NS800 == Phonak PFE 1xx == Etymotic HFx >= Brainwavz B2 == MEE A161p > Dunu Ares > Dunu Crius

Note that all hybrid setups are ignored here although they have BAs...  They are not included in the list (I have 2 hybrids, Audiofly AF78 and AtomicFloyd SuperDarts).  My personal preference leans towards the UE900 and NS800.

What do you think of the AF78 though? I'm just curious.

Why not just pick up a cheap 75 ohm resistor?

Ety ER-4P >> (old) Shure E3c > MEElec A151.  That's all the BA's I've heard.

Ahh heartwarming to see the E3c noticed... I liked it SO much that I re-shelled it into a CIEM as a Mid-driver 3 years ago... And I still love them

Musical Fidelity EB-50 > Earsonic SM3 > Etymotic ER4S > Etymotic ER4P > Etymotic HF5 > ATH-CK10 > Sony XBA-4ip > Klipsch Image X5 > Klipsch Image X10 > Samsung EHS-71

The EB-50s are new single BA kids on the block, and bloody amazing if you ask me - especially at the price.  They prove that it aint how many drivers you got, its what drivers you got and what you do with them.

My review is here: http://www.head-fi.org/t/628570/review-simply-incredible-new-iems-musical-fidelity-eb-50nd
