Speaking of Khan. I felt it was my worst blind buy until recently. With the warm summer I have been listening a lot outdoors. With the aggressive tunings of my Odin and EVO I wanted something that I could just sit back, relax and enjoy the music. Well the Khan with the EVO Genesis cable, Symbio Peel and Mojo 1 fit the bill perfectly. Synergy I guess. It will either eclipse the Khan and Valkyrie as my worse blind buys or be amazing.
I completely agree. I say it is best for anything with a voice. Also, almost anything with an instrument because fundamental frequencies for all voices and instruments are in the mids except for the lowest notes on bass instruments. It is absolutely a flavored listen, but it is my favorite flavor.Didn't know it is that much polarizing. I must say I find it good but not perfect for my playlists.
There are a lot of specialist IEMs out there which do one aspect very well, but the vocal performance of the MSF is just out of this world. I can't get that joy with any other headphone, not Susvara or the like.
The Le Jardin and the Red Halo come with the better cables. The Red Halo FE looks great, but the cable is not as good, though still a good cable. It’s not easy to chose a UM flagship between:
Mason FUSang (black purple)
Mason Fabled Sound (blue)
Mason Fabled sound Red Halo
Mason fabled sound Red Halo FE
Mason Fabled sound Le Jardin

I am not sure why UM didn't offer a bundle of Red Halo FE with the Red Halo First Times Shielding cable. They probably did it to lower the price.. I can see that, but it is a lot better with the better cable. The Le Jardin and the Red Halo come with the better cables. Yes, I have always been confused by that as well.I am not sure why UM didn't offer a bundle of Red Halo FE with the Red Halo First Times Shielding cable. They probably did it to lower the price.. I can see that, but it is a lot better with the better cable.
I forget, what’s the difference between Red Halo and Red Halo FE?
Sometimes I wonder what the point is of putting a really nice cable with an IEM because the people most likely to appreciate it are also the most likely to replace the cable no matter what it is for one they like more.

Oh no. I have not heard how critical iems are. Something sounded really good. But most recordings - even the not so bad ones - sounded... Well, not very good or downright bad. And so with most of my music. Despite the fact that I like high frequencies.Speaking of Khan. I felt it was my worst blind buy until recently. Not necessarily. The stock cable may not reveal the iems enough, but it should show what they might be interested in. Must match the level, I guess. And be quite versatile. In addition, this is a cable that is used until buying another one.Sometimes I wonder what the point is of putting a really nice cable with an IEM because the people most likely to appreciate it are also the most likely to replace the cable no matter what it is for one they like more.
However, some manufacturers, who save the last cents, actually sell headphones in zipper bags, without cables and without attachments. Or adds a cable to the iems for few thousand dollars, which is worth 10 in the best case.
Couldn't bring myself to spend multi-kilobux on a blind purchase, so audition is the only way for me. This has limited my choices to what I can find here in Aus, and my collection reflects that. But on the flip side sometimes too much choice can be a burden, and I'm pretty happy with the variety of what I've now got on hand. Any chance you can get to Sydney for a few days? That way you could spend a bit of Quality time at both A2A and Minidisc, between them you could sample quite a few of the Top12-25 from the recent Watercooler poll. Also, it may not be too late for @Damz87 to hook you up on the FiR Frontier tour.Hi everyone, quick question. Are you able to audition these multi-kilobuck IEMs somehow before buying, or is the purchase solely based on impressions of others?
I love how the blue accents the drab grey of the Supermoon. Not the most beautiful looking IEM…but the cable helps.
Looking forward to your impressions, what's the isolation like?Got some mail, courtesy of @blotmouse:
Initial impressions are a little mixed...but it's hard to be objective when going through so many IEMs one after the other.
Incidentally they can be worn up or down:

Above average if you get a good seal.
