4 OPA1612 worked as I/V convertor and low fass filer and votage amplifer.

2 LMH6643 as buffer, each for one channel , and LMH6643 includes two channels in one chip.

the amp section is powered by +/- 6V (12 V swing )

Hi James,

Some portable amps run their gain stages at a lower voltage when powered from the internal battery, but permit higher voltages that can be supplied from an extenal PSU.

Per the datasheet, OPA1612 can tolerate Vs as high as +/- 18V, but THD+noise is lowest when Vs is +/- 15V.

Will the X5 allow a higher Vs than +/- 6V when using an external power supply?

Thank you - it looks like a great product, so far!

Update: I realize this is a DAP, not intended to drive power hungry headphones. Line Out can be used for an external amp, if I want. :)

I think an important feature is a wireless remote control interface so the player can be easily used as a system component.  After testing the various DAPS I want to dedicate one to the home rig.  Kind of inconvenient though without though without a remote interface.

i disagree with this, as it's main function is being a portable music player, not a home audio system.

i can understand your need for this, but i think it has no place in this dap.

I think it is very obviously not going to be any balanced headphone-out by looking at the opamp usage. To get balanced headphone, you will need 10 opamps instead of 6 (*double for everything after I/V stage).

Oh, I didn't know those technical details, thank you very much ClieOS, today I learned something new

@James,

Would you consider making a portable amp, kind of E12 successor with OPA627? Portaphile 627 seems to be one of the best portable amps according to many people and I would like to learn if FiiO has a plan to use it? Also, more than 4 hours of battery would be nice as well (Portaphile 627 has only 4 hours of battery life).

Yeah, considering it to pair with X5.

not balanced DAP from FiiO cause there are very few balanced headphones/IEMs. about new amp, E12 still is the best partner for X5 and we will design a special  kits so people can use it bundle both together.

means it is possible to have balance line-out? probably a RWX5 in the near future?

Mod'ing the X5 for a balanced line signal should be possible,
