I am sure they are micro sd card slots guys, if it was just SD, James would have already told us. So far the specs by James says they are micro sd. Good thing is we have 2 of them, better news is, 128 gb micro sd cards will come out in the near future.

Yep, even more than 240 gb modded ones. That 240 gb modded ones were in my mind especially thinking about I can pair those with Hifi M8. Then I thought, X5 will have dual micro sd card slot and in near future we will have 128 gb cards to put in it. Then I decided to skip 240 gb IPC and wait for X5. I trust their DAC choice and their design. If I need more power, there is line out too anyway. There are a lot of amps to pair with it. I am even thinking about going to RSA and straight down to balanced route

We will see anyway, soon, real soon.

  would mean*

don't let speculation become truth

Speculation!! on this forum, never.
I'm pretty sure they are Micro SD, not SD. They look the same size as other Micro SD slots I've seen, (like DX50).
The pins of the slot are arranged like Micro SD, eg close together and to one side of the slot
SD cards usually have more spaced pins across the whole slot, like this:

I see what you're saying although if you're right then the player is very small width wise and we know that's not the case.

If memory serves me correctly I remember reading somewhere that after the 64GB card size they would introduce version 3 of the MicroSD/SD specs which stipulated amongst other differences, an extra pin. Therefore this is all academic if the slots on the X5 are not next gen. Don't quote me here as I am going by memory and this was some time ago.

Well, I know even James said they can't promise for the future cards because if they change the specs (like you explained), it might not work. So if it doesn't work, it is okay, I am not gonna go to the corner of shame and cry but if it works, hell yeah sweet 256 gb

I think we will see in the future, relatively near future.

Also just realised that there is 7 op amps on that side of the X5, the  X3 only had 3. Looks like fiio really are taking the sound to the next level, which is good news seeing as it costs twice as much. The pcm1792 DAC should also be a winner.

XD to be honest, I doubt I can afford to but this X5 next year (be it late or early 2014) but I am seriously considering O2 (DIY) or E12 or X3! Is there anywhere for me to connect the X3 to E09K? My new combo (which includes E09K and E07K) is just next week! If this X3 work with E09K, I might as well go for the x3 :D

X5 is only 3mm wider than DX50...

DX50 Micro sd slot...

X5 micro sd slots...

There you go, conclusive evidence that X5 uses Micro SD.

you will find the difference in the connetor, both micro usb socket and headphone socket if someone compare the two photos. anyone find it?

Very nice! I'm quite excited about the X5 and I already own a DX50. James can you entice us with some more details like which opamps used? or power supply specifications, battery voltage etc?

sure, but I remembered that I should posted it before, anyway, we have noting to hide and don't like to remark or erase the model number.

4 OPA1612 worked as I/V convertor and low fass filer and votage amplifer. OPA1612 includes two channels in one chip. and we used OPA1611( single channel ) in our E12.

2 LMH6643 as buffer, each for one channel , and LMH6643 includes two channels in one chip.

And don't make mistake again, T.R.A.N.C.E the amp section is powered by +/- 6V (12 V swing )
