The Fiio X5 Thread

Are we all sure about the fact that X5 will have less power than X3? I think they were supposed to have the same power. Maybe @James can give some official statement here about the power levels?

In fact it has higher voltage swing according to James of 12v where the X3 has 11v. James has said before the power output will be similar to X3, I personally think the amp section will be a more powerful than X3, but because the X5 uses so many power consuming op amps, they will eat into the power increase, then it will be around the X3's power, if you know what I mean.

Power output is voltage x current of a specific load under 1% of distortion. Having more opamp doesn't automatically give you more or less power, but the implementation does. That being said, both X3 and X5 already have plenty of power for a portable device, so I don't see the point of discussing which has more. You can probably cut away half the output power and they will still have more than your average brand name DAP out there. The key is having enough power output for portable use while maintaining a sensible battery life.

)Been using them since 2002. Now paired with sony pha-1 and ipod touch. Still have to find a portable that can beat their sublime sound. Its not exactly an iem and they wont block out ambient noise tho.......

I'd pay good money for electrostatic IEMs ;P

Is $565 "good money"?

One of the main reasons I have never been serious about the Stax is that they are supposed to be poor at isolation. Maybe the MkII is better.
Still, would love to try them out someday.

I'm sure this has been asked before, but an update would no harm. Do you have an estimate date for the X5? Also any updates on the cost?

Cheers

March seems a long wait. I hope they release it much earlier here in Asia since we are a lot closer to China.

Starting from November, save $80/month and when it reach your place, you can buy it straight away! Definitely not long HAHAHAHA! James buy us time to save money for it ^_^
