Thanks olddude (I am old too).  I have been looking on ebay at sandisk branded 128gb and they range from $25-$125.  How does one know they are legit?

This is legit ; http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-MicroSDXC-Adapter-SDSDQUA-128G-G46A-Version/dp/B00IIJ6W4S
(sold by sandisk)

This is not:
http://www.amazon.com/128GB-Adapter-MicroSD-Memory-SHIPPING/dp/B00KJLZDXO/ref=aag_m_pw_dp?ie=UTF8&m=A1135S1RI5H1W7
http://www.amazon.com/Class-128GB-Micro-Memory-Adapter/dp/B00NP2T4AC/ref=sr_1_12?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1417488939&sr=1-12&keywords=128gb

Use common sense - if it looks to good to be true, then likely you're about to crash and burn.  Also - look at the reviews

Chris - if you are having the issue with the driver failing to install on 8.1, try this link : http://www.howtogeek.com/167723/how-to-disable-driver-signature-verification-on-64-bit-windows-8.1-so-that-you-can-install-unsigned-drivers/

You just need to disable the security - it's because the driver is unsigned.

I'll try this out.

Edit:
OK,
I tried that out, the driver installs OK, but no sound out of the X5.
Maybe the driver doesn't like Firmware version. 2.34?
The speakers on my notebook computer do not mute when USB cable from FiiO X5 is plugged in.
Windows does not default to a new audio device just because you plugged it in, you need to select the new audio device in control panel or your audio player program. :)

Anyone here have the he-400? I would like to know if the X5 can drive them properly. An owner here once said he will test it but never came back.

I've selected the FiiO X5 USB driver, still no sound.
Volume is at 100%.

Well, maybe he's still testing it in this place?

FYI: I have a Grado PS500 which the X5 can drive quite easily on high gain, sounds pretty good.
For my LCD2 I definitely prefer the use of an extra amp. Straight from the X5 I can get decent volume, but it sounds way to thin imo.
Can't help you out on the HE400 though...never had/tried it.
