The Fiio X5 Thread
Feb 19, 2014 at 8:41 PM Post #4,547 of 19,652
A question or two to Mac users of the X5:
1. When I connect an X5 to iTunes, do I Copy-and-paste artist by artist or album by album?
2. Does anyone have experience with copying 300 GB of music in one go?
3. If I have two storage cards will the X5 automatically fill up one card first or must I decide where the files are copied to?

The next question is for all users. Does the X5 treat both cards as one storage file or do I need to decide which card to look at to find my music?

Now if only my iPod Classics can take more than 160 GB then I wouldn't need to consider this tempting X5.

Thanks.

You can't sync music to the X5 using iTunes. The best method is use a card reader to copy music to your micro SD cards manually. You can also connect the X5 to your Mac, then the micro SD cards will appear as removable drives. Using a card reader is much faster, though.

A bit off-topic, but you can install a 240GB HDD in your iPod Classic.

Thanks for being the first to respond.

Maybe I should make it more clear. I didn't mean using iTunes as a sync medium. iTunes allows you to import onto apps certain files. For example you use the import function to copy video files onto video playing apps on an iPhone. It won't sync.

The idea of a card reader is interesting. So going by this method, does it mean that I just copy and paste all my 300 GB of music in one go? Then when I insert the two cards into the X5, will it go through some sort of initialization process and will this be a one-off or will it do so everytime I power it on?

iTunes won't recognize your X5 as an app so it won't work.

Yes card reader means copy and paste. If you have two cards, you'll have to decide what music goes to which card. Considering the biggest micro SD card is 64GB (128GB coming, though)
it's impossible to hold all your music..yet!

Media scanning (initialization) is one-off.

Hello All

This is my fist post, I was a long time COWON user, I ended up breaking up with COWON because most of my MUSIC LIBRARY is tagged in Hebrew/Arabic Text.
COWON did not support displaying these languages properly, I was wondering if the FIIO players can display these languages?

I can upload a mp3 file tagged in Hebrew/Arabic, if any FIIO x3 x5 owners here are kind enough to upload it to their players, and snap a shot of what the text looks like?
thank you
