Oh really? I read the newer saber wasn’t much of an upgrade, I had the first saber. What’s the difference? I’d be interested if it’s a bit more detailed/textured to the sound but similar signature.
That’s so true. Well the original photo is still here in a Japan show report from 2018. If you look through the threads from then it is a super small list of posts, but it should still be there. Don’t know why I remember all this stuff from 7 years ago?
I have been using these iems for the last couple of weeks. They need some burn-in to open up.
Unboxing:
I am mentioning this only because the package is really good. It comes in a big box. There is a case, a decent set of eartips, and a USB-C dongle too. This little dongle can be compared to something like an Apple dongle. Very thoughtful, I would say.
Design:
The iems are small in size. I love the way it looks. They fit quite well, almost disappearing from the ears. It comes with a mmcx cable that is 3.5mm terminated. This can be off for some folks. I am also not a fan of mmcx cable, as most of my iems have 2-pin connectors. The Dunu Falcon Ultra is an exception.
Sound:
Star City has a very decent sound profile. It gives you much more than what you expect from a $75 iem. It has a warm, V-shaped signature. The bass on it is a highlight, which I find is punchy. It has decent quantity with a little boost in the mid-bass region. The mids are slightly recessed, not something that excites me. The lower mids gain some weight from the bass region. The Treble region is well controlled, not the most airy, but certainly decent. There is no shoutyness in the upper mids.
The soundstage is on the intimate side. Imaging is quite decent. Sound comes clean, and instrument separation is also good. Overall, the technicalities are decent for the price point.
I have a Simgot EA500LM, which is still in the burn-in phase. Once I have spent some time with it, I will make some comparisons between these two iems. I have a feeling the EA500LM is better tuned.
I think Star City is a decent iem for it's price. I am also going to try a few other iems from Rose Technics to see what they have to offer. One thing is for sure: the guys at Rose Technics are very confident of their products, but I have not seen a lot of mentions of their products on this thread and other places.
Not really a "new" discovery, but one I found in the past: I used to own the Beyerdynamic T1.2 Ninja Edition.
I sold it years ago after getting the Focal Clear OG.
But I missed it since then, especially because it's 600 ohms and I don't have many high impedance sets.
So I found one 2nd hand from the classified section and bought it this weekend.
They sound amazing with tube amps.
I can't wait to try it with my Aune S17 Pro, too.
I'll upload some photos and post impressions when they arrive later this week.

Mine have stayed for many years now, love the T1 G2
I actually change it up sometimes with pad swap, Dekoni Elite Velour changes the sound to bassy V shaped set.
Been thinking about trying the ZMF Suede pads for Beyerdynamic soon.
Just posted my review of Aful MagicOne. It is now the 25th review of this particular iem so I'm sure everything has been said before and in better ways than I could but I really enjoyed doing this review. Next up will be the EA500LM. Thanks everyone!
The Oriveti OH700VB been a joy to have, going away on a small tour now to some friends. Will be nice to share.
With so many sets coming, this remain maybe the most unique one I have tried lately. Don't hear so much talk about it outside the reviews, not sure why. Maybe the price is what keeping people away? I for one love it, and will miss it during the time away now.

Yep, it was price that put me off. A couple of hundred pounds cheaper and I’d have considered it. But then the TSMR X releases for a lot cheaper so decision made.

Might be the main reason, $699 is alot. Even with the 10% of discount. TSMR X is also a great one for much less, but they offer quite different sound. I bet it would be 1/2 here prefering one or the other. Bass quality is great on both, more fast and dense on X while OH700Vb is more nuanced and bouncy. Yeah I know werid description. But share amount will be more on X, in 100 pos.
Midrange more forward and rich on OH700VB, more veiled on X.
Treble great on both sets with good clarity, some more air with OH700VB.
Soundstage is personal, but the X have more height and position music higher than I'm used to. OH700VB more wide and forward projection.
Think both sets are great, imo the TSMR X in 100 switch position reminds me of Maestro Mini. But much better.
The AüR Audio Neon Pro is also at that pricepoint, don't have the same DD bass as OH700VB. But is more energetic and resolving set, much better for people who prefer clarity.
Actually getting Canpur CP54e and CP32E on tour this week, looking forward to them. I have a feel the CP54E will dethrone my NP
