I found the bass of the ER2XR disappointing compared to even the BL03. You might do better just getting some good-fitting foam or hybrid tips for isolation.
I'm sorry. Did I imply that the ER2XR would replace the BL-03? I want something that can be used while working with all sorts of power tools and just riding noisy vehicles. I find out at times the BL-03 doesn't have enough isolation for the task. The WHOLE point of the ER2XR is that is an earplug that can also play music. The BL-03 fundamentally doesn't do this very well due to the vented nature.

I'll probably also want to buy some earmuffs to wear on top of the ER2XR.

Should consider getting TWS instead, you're going to EQ it anyway. BA isn't responsive to EQ, as well as your Blon!

I don't mean to sound ungrateful, but I'd like more specific examples. With passive noise isolation taking priority over ANC. Because AFAIK nothing can even come close to touching the ER series in noise isolation. And even with ANC the ER series seem to outperform most gear. Specially if the ER is worn with foam tips.

Edit: Is this thread actively antagonizing Etymotic? Because sure, no one explicitly claimed to hate them or that I should avoid their gear like a plague. But people seemingly trying to recommend against the ER2XR while no substitutes are recommended to try feels rather... Rushed.

But in the end, I know I have to get used to wearing earplugs or in the case of the ER2XR, and earplug like earphones. I must.

If its something near on the treble to the EST112, with more midbass... I think im gonna love it.

What about voices, are they the stars of the show?

The FiiO Q7 (and soon the q15 akm lovers edition) has plenty of power to move any iem. (The counterpart is the output impedance of the q7)

Hmm, actually the Kara is quite dark in the treble, and it is more sub-bass focused than mid-bass.

It is midcentric, so vocals are thick and forwards (without being shouty).

I'm really enjoying the Heyday with the included bass tips which I thought were unusable.

Kid you not, took me like 30 minutes of tip wrestling to get the damn tips on the nozzle because they have zero elasticity straight from the box.

Highly recommend Final E tips or CP100s with the Heyday, only reason I installed the small stock bass tips is because I get a better fit than using the M size E tips or CP100s I have on hand, will replace with Final E S tips when I get the chance.

Tried AZLA but the treble is too bright for my taste.

I think Heyday with bass boosting tips is a great IEM but YMMV.

Do microplanars have the planar timbre? Till now it was one microplanar per hybrid, but four ought to bring out some of that.
This one interests me to find out too. 4 microplanars for the mids and highs? Or Just the highs with the dynamic doing everything else. Haven't seen more than 1. But I guess they kept deciding to add just 1 More
