What tips you got on that, and the dap?
The tips are a bit of an oddball, but I kept the large pair of balanced tips from my NF Audio NM2+. The person I sold them to allowed me to keep those tips, and they are the perfect synergy with the IE600. Before them, I was using the spiral dot OG. The Senn tips are simply useless. Low quality and the walls are too soft. As for DAPS, I tend to slip between the DX170, Sony A306, Sony A17, and Sansa Fuze. The only one I drive with an amp are the A306. The rest I use directly thru the jack. Between the fit, sound, and ease of drive, they truly are pretty much endgame for me. Now again, I always hesitate to commit to those words, but so far so good.

just found this song, got stuck and keep listening to it now.

Pretty cool song. Dude sounds just like a chick, but a good voice and sounds amazing with the IE600 and more so with the SR5.

If you really want to get to the bottom of this, who ever has high-end DAPs (1,000 USD and up?), record the line-out of your DAP while playing a song (your choice), on reasonable volume, to the line-in of your PC or whatever high-end recording setup you have, and then copy that file of the recording to your DAP and record a copy of that one being played and do that over and over again, for say 10 or 30 cycles and then compare the original file and the one who you have feed thru this loop, upload the audio files and graphs and compare them, if the DAP is just out putting a pure signal, except for slight interference or artifacts, they should sound identical, if not, a more thorough investigation will be required.

This is similar to finding out if a camera or picture app is applying filters automatically, by cycling it thru the pipeline multiple time, we will get an exaggerated view of what it is doing.
A good point, while ADC will be more direct for comparison and/or Fourier transform and frequency analysis for more precisely/analytical comparison.

I did learn just to enjoy different colours/flavours of the sources - an important (even very important) point though is to always have your neutral/transparent reference.

The only way is to deactivate your Headfi account and don't come back here.
But I like it here, lol.
I'm happy with what I have now for my library, that should be enough.
Enjoy reading the experiences the pioneers have with new gear.
Impressive how KZ appear to have regained positive traction.
Await which IEMs will continue to be mentioned/recommended at years end with the continuing TOTL trickle down to sub $50 releases.

Blon 03 has a very fun sound for the money, full bodied. Biggest downfall of the Blon 03 is bad ergonomic due to small nozzle.
Another very good option for you would be the VE SiE, its like a mini Serial in metal build. Serial is the best one, but to start at a lower price SiE is very good.

If I were him, I'd skip the cheap "almost like" and just go with the Penon Serial. I did this far too often with the "almost like the IE600" and then I ended up spending 50-60% of the cost of the IE600 on "almost likes". Once I saved up for the IE600, they have been revelatory, so I should have just bought them to begin with.

Aye agree 💯. A reason why all my favorite sets are above entry level prices.

But there is caveat to this, I don't dare bring them with me 😅 so they become at home sets.
