Akros reviews TFZ offshoot company, EarAcoustic's new iem

EarAcoustic Audio is the evolution of the brand TFZ, and in the Hi-End Max I bring you it's "flagship" single DD offering.
Using the 11.4mm DD that can trace it's origins to the likes of TFZ No3, King, Live X, Tequila Pro, the Silver Angel , is the perfect example of the evolution of a house sound!
It's built quality is exquisite, the accessories the expected at this price, 289usd, and only the fact the cable doesn't offer exchangeable terminations, is the only real minor hiccup.
Sound signature is not the safer Harman tuning, instead it has that typical TFZ vibe , but more.polished, more mature.

EarAcoustic Audio Hi-End Max... seriously get a better name.
tough if you wanna Bling-Bling iems for your significant others, this would be good options.

Right off the bat, with Five Years, you get a studio trick that tests the orbital spatial cues, as if your IEM has really good orbital stage, the drum strike will appear to come from the back of your ears. If it's just ok to decent, it's more side head, but excellent, from behind the ear (like TRN ST7). There's details like that all through this album.

Thank you.

Just tried that with Hermit.

The initially quiet drum impact starts kind of at the back of my head and move forward to the back of my ears as the volume increases.

The pop pop of the drum stays at the back of my ears as the vocals and other instruments start with Bowie's vocals sitting centrally and a little forward of the pop pop of the drums.

I listened casually to the album while working and noticed a few of those spatial tricks but didn't focus on it sufficiently since I was actually working. I will have a closer listen with the Hermit and other sets when I am off the clock.

I just love the guitar solo in the last minute of Moonage Daydream !! Gorgeous.

Cheers.

It’s FiiO. I guess $1999 or $2299. 64 audio old price.
I think FiiO will keep it under 1500usd. But that will be too tight for such a configuration.
Moritz Paradise
2DD + 4BA + 2BCD

I got this set in a trade recently and I haven't seen much discussion around them so I wasn't sure what to expect. Let's just say that I was pleasantly surprised on first listen. If I had to make a comparison, the Paradise has a slightly v-shaped tuning and sounds similar to the Dita Mecha, but with added bone conduction flavor. I feel like the dual BCD drivers add a bit of texture to the bass and more atmosphere in the soundstage. As some of you may know, I'm not a fan of tuning switches, but I'm glad there were 3 on the Paradise for me to adjust the tuning to my liking. I ended up with UDU as my favorite, which boosts the bass and tones down the upper mids. For those of you that like the Mecha, but have issues with the upper mids, I recommend giving the Paradise a listen.

..and thanks for your ever-growing library of measurements on squig.link, @Jaytiss!
Paradise is quite a solid IEM. That bass is praiseworthy. I have been mostly on the DUD mode as I find bass too much if it’s switched on. The BCD driver adds a sense of physicality and extra fun factor. Overall, I miss some refinement in the sound but that’s too much to ask.

Decided I'd give this one a listen too.

As best as I can tell (currently listening on the Punch), it's a quirk of the miking technique used for the drums. Sounds like two mics: one over the snare (center) and another on the kick (panned hard left). The drummer mostly hits just back-center on the snare. That translates spatially to the back-center of the headstage because of how it's miked. But every so often, the drummer hits in a slightly different spot, translating to a different place in the headstage. A few hit to the right, a couple more center-forward. I'm pretty sure that "positional effect" is just about the miking. But, like you both say, some IEMs will probably relay that information differently than others.

I also put this album on.
I would also add that, in my opinion, the electronics in the chain can also make a big difference to spacial positioning and shouldn't be overlooked.

I saw your review on the Szalayi. I had planned to get that, but bought the Canjam hype of Flipears Legion. You know my taste regarding electronic, low-fi, lounge and funk and their variations. How would Szalayi fit those genres?
As a big fan of those genres as well , I would say you would enjoy the Szalayi alot.

Borrowed an Ice Lab Prismatica from my audio store to do a review. I had the good fortune to demo the Elysian Apostle, Annihilator, Dita Mecha, Acoustune C02 and the Acoustune HS1900X yesterday and thought I'd give the Prismatica a serious listen to see how it stacks up against those.

My personal quick impressions: they all rank according to how they're priced apart from the Mecha. To my ears they're not good enough for the price. With the proviso that I haven't spent a lot of time with them (apart from the HS1900X) I'd score them like this:

Annihilator 4.5/5
Apostle 4.5/5
HS1900X 4.5/5
C02 3.5/5
Mecha 2.5/5

The Prismatica on the other hand has gotten its claws in me. Not the most technically capable set but it's smooth and musical.

It responds unusually to cross feed also. With it on the centre drum strike is notably more defined.

Regardless what you say makes sense as the drum pops certainly move around a little.

There are so many deals on aliexpress right now… can’t decide.
Was thinking of getting the Aful Explorer (72$) or tanchjim origin (160$).
Do you have another recommendation for bright single DD IEM such as the Origin?
If there is an alternative maybe I could get it both with the explorer. :dt880smile:

Sound Rhyme SP01. You can buy that and the Explorer for about the same cost as the Origin, and be set (until the next sale)!

Guys buy one Aful cantor and be set with it for a while, or buy several other and be stuck in the trying out "lesser" on paper Iems😂
I love the magic one, should i just swing for one kind of endgame for me?
Or try out iem that looks interesting, but then i wont have the chase of the thrill for new stuff😏

What are your experience with these different parts.

Because right now i am going kind of insane, have looked at to many iems lately.

I think it goes very well with those genres.

Less so with rock and metal, but for those is killing it.
