Are you serious yet this year?

https://www.head-fi.org/threads/det...-dac-amp-discussion-impression-thread.975231/

This is the giant killer Amp/DAC of the year so far. The thread that has been created for the Dethonray Clarinet has been blowing-up. The dedicated thread has 8 pages of impressions already since December 18th, 2024. Many are reporting the USB to be great, but optical and coaxial being even better. Many years ago I found this out too with a DAC, so I believe them. And this surprise comes at the point of being basically uniformly agreed upon, everyone agrees this is so. Which is a rare, very rare phenomena on Head-Fi! :)

There is a case for it, it looks like too!

High-Voltage Customized Power System
Clarinet utilizes a specialized high-voltage power system to ensure high-fidelity audio while maintaining separation between digital and analog power sources. This eliminates circuit noise, delivering a clean, transparent sound with minimal background noise. It easily drives headphones ranging from 10 ohms/120dB IEMs to 300 ohms/102dB headphones, showcasing versatility across various devices.

AK4493S DAC for Exceptional Sound Quality
At the heart of Clarinet's audio performance is the AKM AK4493S DAC chip from the VELVET SOUND series. This premium chip delivers outstanding musicality and precise detail restoration, allowing you to experience sound as if you're at a live performance.

Multiple Inputs for Versatile Connectivity
Clarinet offers USB, Optical, and Coaxial inputs, providing the flexibility to connect to various devices such as CD players, game consoles, and more. The AK4118A professional-grade chip ensures a balanced analog output free from digital artifacts, maintaining a pure, natural sound across all frequencies.

Dual USB-C Ports
Two independent USB-C ports allow for charging and data transfer simultaneously, eliminating battery life concerns when on the go. The device can also be connected directly to a portable power bank, providing continuous audio enjoyment.

All-Aluminum Alloy Design
The CNC-machined aluminum alloy casing effectively absorbs external electromagnetic interference and boasts excellent heat dissipation properties. This reduces internal component temperatures, improving product reliability and performance.

Precision Volume Control
The volume knob is the central interface, featuring advanced Touch & Feel software algorithms that eliminate channel bias issues typical of traditional analog volume potentiometers. This ensures smooth and reliable volume adjustment.

Customizable Sound Output
Clarinet's firmware allows you to customize the sound signature for different IEMs and headphones, whether they use dynamic, planar, or balanced armature drivers. This flexibility ensures an optimal listening experience tailored to your preferences.

Versatile Usage Scenarios
The Clarinet can be used with a variety of devices, including mobile phones, DAPs, TVs, CD players, computers, cars, speakers, and amplifiers.

I'm going to have to check out that thread - I'm a source junky... I've been very curious about this device. It's seemingly a "to go to be true" price.

Got FT1 for $123 USD and FT1 pro for $150 USD. Still waiting for them so can't really rec them yet, but FT1 has tons of reviews and FT1 pro reviews have started rolling out, mostly positive.

Finally just beat Act 1 final boss of POE 2. Damn good challenging game.
Did you receive the FT1 yet? (Not Pro) Curious about your thoughts. 🙂

And the scores are in [LINK in signature. Go to the "Round 1 tab"] for the Leteciel Mira and KZ ZS6!

Leteciel Mira: A pretty, small IEM with a dainty sound to boot. It DOES sound refined, but can come off as thin or lacking weight/body on some tracks. It's not my cup of tea, and thus gets an B-tier rating of 65/100. So yes, even the Wan'er [either version] is better than the Mira for me. It will end up in my next cull lot [which is growing, by the way!]
I also find the stage to be not very impressive at all, and overall, they don't sound dynamic enough for me. The last straw is the price! Any of the newer KZ single DD sets would be a better pick, for a lot cheaper. Refined the Mira is, but she lacks authority to hang with the cool kids crowd!

KZ ZS6. Nostalgic for me as the first time I really heard extended treble and awesome soundstage in an IEM. YES It had major sibilance issues, even with a filter mod. But for non-vocal tracks, it shines a LOT brighter. I actually found myself liking the sound a lot more, especially with the Penon Space cable. Authoritative bass for days, and crystal clear treble and soundstage that still catches me off guard. I rated it 73/100, which is a very respectable mid-A-tier. Just don't listen to female vocals or tracks with very intense cymbals and you'll be fine. [I WANT WANT WANT to get my hands on a ZS7! I heard they improved the treble. I also heard rumblings that there was a stealth revision of the ZS6 and if I buy a "newer" one for sale, yes they're still for sale, it might be better? IDK.]
For all intents and purposes, the ZS12 Pro X is a better pick, but the bass kick of the ZS6 is almost unparalleled in my hybrid IEM experience, and the stage [likely from that full aluminum shell] is grand.

NEXT ratings will be for the Tangzu YuXuanJi and the Kinera Celest IgniteX Beast! These two sets look amazing, but will the sound be grand enough to hold on in my collection?

Well, we have slowly seen prices go down and performance go up since 2013. So the odds are stuff is going to (eventually) showcase value. I mean looking over that thread in a way is like seeing people that I know are members, but often didn’t read much about them recently. So they are coming out of the woodwork to talk about and buy the Clarinet. I respect their experience.

My Vote is yes I like the EPZ P50 but think it would be better to save up another $100 and buy the Softears
It will be interesting hearing your observations on the two modes for "pop" and "classical" - hopefully they actually make a taste difference.

Yeah, the thread convinced me it was a no-brainer, along with some Ali coupons, I PTT. The consensus seems to be that Coax is the way to go, it'll be fun to experiment.

I think I need something to counter balance the detail monster that is the Cantor. Something more relaxed with a little more bass. Something to compliment the Cantor.
I agree, if a set is overly resolving there's a potential for fatigue to set in. Maybe the Volume S are that sweet spot set?
