@Hypops any tl;dw of Akros' video :dt880smile:
He does tend to go on...

His choices in the $150-$350 range:
Simgot Supermix 4 (outperforms its price)
ISN H60 (for timbre and tonality, a "mini voltage")
Dunu Davinci (for bass, timbre and tonality)
Tri I3 Mk3 (leaner set)
Aful Performer 5+2 (he's especially impressed by this guy)
Binary Dynaquattro (for bass)

Taking a break from typing down a product review, for now enjoying the TangZu Audio 's XUAN NV with CCR's track, Fortunate Son. This classic rock song suits well with XUAN NV's smooth and warm analogue-ish sound profile.

Since this set has ceramic dynamic drivers, you really need a source with better power output, at least with medium or high gain mode options. Although the RHA CL1 which is also another ceramic dynamic driver IEM is still harder to drive compared to XUAN NV as far as I remembered.

Gear Set-up: HIBY R6 PRO II, TANGZU XUAN NV, NICEHCK 4.4mm Balanced Cable.

I still get blown away at times. Sometimes Anni doesn’t get the time to test. It blows me away with its lovely balanced sound.

Other iems still leave me feeling wow. It’s funny. It’s a fun hobby.

Truth. I can't listen to any other IEM that follows an Anni listening session. The others just don't give me as much enjoyment when following the Anni.

Just got done listening to some thrash metal with these, thru tubes, and it was a fun listen. Bass is able to keep us. Now back to the S12 (2024), as I continue to formulate my review. It's gonna surprise a few folks. Might even crank a few?

My S12 24 honeymoon is over. It's still a good balanced IEM, but because it's balanced, now I find it lacking.. if that makes sense.

Look forward to hearing your impressions of the DUNU DK3001 BD!! It was at the top of my list until the ISN EBC80 reared it's beautiful head.
Ya i think that EBC80 with its ESTs might be what you would prefer between the two but who knows how the final tuning will be.
I actually think that vacuum cleaner companies should make actual mini fully functioning versions so that these little helpers can make themselves much more useful.
He has a toy one that technically works as a vacuum but a handful of dust bunnies and the bin is full. Its pretty pathetic 😅
Nope, I would never answer a question that specific when it involves a set I haven't experienced. Also, even if I were able to compare the TSMR X with Shock, monetary value is different for everyone, which would also make me refrain from giving a straight answer.

According to @Dsnuts, the Shock is the upgrade to the TSMR X. But I doubt the upgrade would be worth "double," especially at this price level.
Might be worth the money just to have the control over the FR offered by the dials?
So, I got roasted because the XE6 didn't fit my ear (while the RN6 did, no idea) so my experience with the XE6 is bleh until I try it on tour. Could have been a CIEM version or something with the modules. But I wanna give it another shot since I totally think that the XE6 is in my wheelhouse.

But for a 5/5? Anni 2023. If I ever post the review 😂 - it's been almost done for months but I've been behind and now I feel like I'm only reviewing or writing about it with recall.

I think the other contenders (can't say fully since it's all show room impressions) would be the FatFreq GMA, Canpur, RN6. Storm and APX SE would likely brute force their way in also due to how good they are on paper.

Edit: oh, 5/5 for bass.

FatFreq GMA, Canpur, APX Se, RN6 - yeah. Diva is better for bass to me than Anni 2023.
I knew FF would be on that list somewhere 😉
In case the green limited edition of Kima 2 is ok for you :)
https://hifigo.com/collections/new-arrival/products/dunu-kima2
The green is so pretty! 💚 I'm a sucker for green IEMs it seems.
As someone who loves the show Scrubs with every fiber of his being, I approve of "Overkill" so much. That sounds awesome, man!
Yes! This is why we're friends. I cant hear that song without instantly thinking of this episode, especially when Dr. Cox destroys the guitar 🤣
R4 Miter case is in, it’s never been so classy…
From anime to classy with just a simple case 👍 plus it flattens the back too which is probably a good thing.
What a fascinating phenomenon. One I will NEVER understand, and I'm sure this will remain even after walking out of CanJam, but who knows? Right? But the one guy just mentioned he's never heard a bass cannon quite like this bass cannon, and the follow up question was "did you try the impedance adapter" to add even MORE bass to an already bass cannon of bass cannons for the OG poster. Why would you want even MORE BASS to an already excessive bass? I dunno? I'm just old.
Maybe bass is a young man's game my friend 🤣
EPZ Q5 Pro
its sold in EPZ official store in Aliexpress but my internet is a bit wonky right now, apparently $54

I bought an EPZ Q5 Pro on aliexpress at a discounted price.

It is a budget single DD, utilizing a carbon ceramic composite nano diaphragm.

Fits well, very light weight, and is easily driven. Unlike the OG Q5, this Pro version utilizes a 2-pin connector instead of MMCX.

The Q5 Pro furnishes a bright U-shaped tone, with good end-to-end extension. It is one for trebleheads, with good sparkle on display (slight sibilance though).

The sound is crisp with fast transients, good micro-details and tight imaging. Bass is clean, nimble and textured. Timbre is quite natural.

As shown on the graphs below, this Q5 Pro is a bit bassier than the OG Q5. Will do some more testing and report back, but from initial listening, the Q5 Pro is an analytical set for technical and treble junkies, but it doesn't come across as sterile due to some bass extension with decent note weight.

I got one yesterday (along with the new TP35 dongle dac/amp). First impressions, I mostly agree with Basking here. Sounds a bit thin with maybe a shimmer of mettalic timbre. But I actually don't find them to be overly bright or sibilant/fatiguing and they sound very clean. More balanced and leaning neutral bright to my ear. Trebleheads will be happy with it I think. Will need to burn in and see if anything changes.

I also ended up grabbing the new super cheap Fiio FD10. For like $6, this thing has no business sounding this good. Does it compete with $50 sets? No not really. Is it way more than passable for its price? Definitely! It has a U-shaped FR. Bass is a little messy, vocals slightly recessed, treble is tame and rolled off. Technically it's not very detailed or resolving and the stage is a bit cramped, but for a cheap gym, travel, or beater set? Easy recommendation 👌. I think the Piccolo is still a better bang for buck overall.

Hello Disco Threaders! It's been a busy day but I did finally get my review posted for the InAwaken Dawn Ms (Head-Fi and blog). This is a very good IEM for only $50 and may not be getting the buzz it deserves. If there's a good 11/11 mark down on these, I would definitely recommend picking up a pair if you're curious or just want another budget IEM taking up space.
1000043336.jpg

Yes, that is a picture of the Dawn at dawn. It's a metaphor or something.
Brother, what a stunning photo, congrats on such a successful frame!
I still get blown away at times. Sometimes Anni doesn’t get the time to test. It blows me away with its lovely balanced sound.

Other iems still leave me feeling wow. It’s funny. It’s a fun hobby.
This is very true - I can see why the Anni does that for you.

For the many of us that have 10 or more IEMs in our stable, for me at least, it's easy to go back to my flagship sets and feel that level of "wow" all over again. I purposely don't use the Titans every day, I don't want to get used to the sound so that it get's to a point where they sound "normal" to me and everything else sounds bass light and not dynamic. The Titans are a special IEM, like the Annis, so being able to cycle between all the IEMs I have allows me to keep that excitement for my flagships. I'm very fortunate to have 3 (nearly) kilobuck sets that all have a different flavor. It all just depends on what I'm feeling in that moment.
There are some great deals on this IEM. Is it still worth it with such an overwhelming 2024 catalogue?

1000044857.jpg
The Vulkan is definitely worth it imo, it's very different in it's presentation. I'm not quite sure how to describe it, but it's a clean/warmish replay with good sub bass rumble and befitting techs in the detail and staging department. The way they stage music, to my ears at least, is very unique. depending on the track, it sounds very holographic.

From Fiio FB:

There are 2 days left before the launch of the True Wireless Bluetooth Amplifier UTWS5 2025. Let’s stay tuned!
For the first time, PEQ tuning was introduced to Bluetooth ear hooks!
The UTWS5 2025 supports ten customizable frequency bands for tuning. Through the FIIO-developed interface, you can freely fine-tune the frequency, gain and bandwidth of the EQ to achieve a more accurate and precise frequency response in each frequency range, while ensuring high-fidelity sound quality with up to 96kHz/24bit sampling rate. Self-define the tuning style for your own preference.

I haven’t done a real comparisons yet but I really like them… in another galaxy compared to the garbage QKZs I just got in around the same price.
