this thread. take with a grain of salt though, everyone who would have one right now is most likely promoting on behalf of Penon/ISN.Anyone know anything about this iem? ISN AUDIO NEO 1
Last year it was the Performer 8 that got my attention as the "must get" iem. What is it really this year. There are some names being thrown around a lot. Chopin, Neo 5, EA1000 and most recently the Wind. So what is it? What is the the best value for the money?

Chopin hasn't been in enough ears yet I think. Neo 5 seems like it has received a lot of praise and ISN/Penon is always on point. The Penon Dome is a newer release but again it hasn't been around long enough yet. The Truthears Nova was a huge hit at CanJam but I haven't heard much after that.Last year it was the Performer 8 that got my attention as the "must get" iem. What is it really this year. Something made me pull out the M15S and my Top Four for a Blitzkrieg shootout on solely one section of one song:
Like Exploding Stones by Kurt Vile; timestamped between 2:00 and 3:00 mark
This brief experiment made me chuckle a bit cause all four are inarguably great IEMs but just how differently they presented this little section was mesmerizing and reaffirmed that I am not willing to part ways with any of them.
I started with Aurora which is treble-light vs the others, but give it time (a full minute in this case haha) and you'll get accustomed to its signature. Bass can be challenged exclusively by the IE600. The effortlessness is fantastic, mids are the highlight with ample detail and soulfulness.
Aure does the vocals better than the rest. They are full, rounded, weighty and detailed above all else. Bass is good but all others best it. And the treble has precisely the right spice needed for vocal naturalness.
IE600 isn't shy about its V-shape. Bass in this tune is spot on, treble is easily the most prominent thus most detailed short-term, but tiresome in longer listening sessions at any decent volume. I'm not the biggest fan of how it renders vocals in this particular song.
Butastur is easily the most open sounding of the four. Bass isn't as tactile nor rich, but the amount here is just correct. When you want to dissect the song technically this is the one. Amazingness of vocals is not far behind the AüR duo. It might get tiresome due to sheer amount of information your ears are getting.
I'll do these four sets justice by forming a longer comparison to really try to convey their respective advantages. One's for sure, all four would find a place in nearly everyone's collection.
I have one on the way, and have no link to Penon other than liking a lot of their products. For what it’s worth, most of the reviewers in that thread have given me good advice even if some do get given free samples.this thread. take with a grain of salt though, everyone who would have one right now is most likely promoting on behalf of Penon/ISN.

I have an early prototype set and a retail version. These are defintiely worth a purchase but with a caviate.Anyone know anything about this iem? ISN AUDIO NEO 1
They will come with a new filters which I feel is needed to make them sound thier best. Once the filter is in place the sound is worth every bit of that $40 and more. The driver used for the Neo1 is a carbon nanotube. Which provides some excellent detail and dynamics. its a mild v tuned IEM with solid imaging, better details, treble sparkle and punchy bass end for the money. Its not revolutionary by any means, its a $40 set. Its comfortable for my medium sized ears and if your willing to use a better cable and do the filter change. These are hitting with some of the best in the price range.-- but again only if your 1) Burn them in real good. 2) Use a better cable, included cable is not so good. 3) Change the nozzle filter , Penon will include filter sets with each Neo 1.

Holy wowz. How has it taken someone this long to release a phone sized DAP. This might finally be the oneHiBy Digital M300, Android 13 Player, 4" screen, with free HiBy Digital XOE Earphones....$199.... time limited. Bloody hell....incredible value from HiBy Website.
I haven’t really paid much attention to DAPs, but is the omission of 4.4mm a big miss or am I not reading the specs right?Holy wowz. How has it taken someone this long to release a phone sized DAP. This might finally be the one

agreed, I didn’t end up with a Neo 5 on accident! It is worth mentioning though, imo.I have one on the way, and have no link to Penon other than liking a lot of their products. For folks that have the Simgot EA500 filter set. You can replace the metal nozzle grill on the Neo1 with the 500 mesh and it pretty much does what the cotton mesh does for the penon filters. Its just a way of customizing that sound profile to your liking. Standard metal mesh for the Neo1 is a bit glary for trebles so they included them filters for folks.
Sounds great with them EA500 nozzle filters.
