HBB put it down in his recent video saying it left his ears ringing.
HBB is also very much not a "high treble" listener, and probably only listened to them stock to review them. They are very good on the silver filter, to me and pulls the upper end energy down enough

Just ordered the BASN ASONE from amazon----after reading some reviews looked like it might be a hidden gem. Then after I ordered I saw the newer model--the MTPro---
the Asone is $ 149---14.2 mm planar ( $ 15 off coupon--$ 135)===the MtPro 14.5 mm ( $ 189 with $ 20 coupon off $ 169)
Just wondering if anyone had heard the two or had an opinion either way-----the asone is overnight delivery(!) so will have tomorrow and can get MTPro and compare and keep which one I like better----but before I go through that was just hoping someone could advise---😜

Thanks for the reply. I haven't heard any of them but on paper, they wouldn't be uograde to Nx7 imo.

Thought i would try a well implemented and well tuned plz iem. Mid or mid+ budget. Although Winter ultra is tempting
GeekWold GK100 is skyhigh upgrade of NX7.

Both technical and tonal wise.

though both of these arent perfect tone and timbre wise. imo

Man, I have been using the See Audio Neko for quite a few days now. I have never come across an IEM that does midrange so beautifully(and yes i have heard quite a few). The midrange has the proper heft, and the proper weight to generate a natural vocal presentation. The imaging and separation for instruments are simply superb, every detail, every minute nuance is produced so beautifully that I am completely in love with the set. It pairs so well with the WM1A MK2 enveloping me with fantastic sound Stage depth is something to appreciate here as well. A little more slam to the lower end would have made this an even better choice for me. Will try to complete the review this week but I have quite a few other products to complete first. This one will have to wait for a few more days.

It's not all about beauty, it sounds brilliant!!!

They certainly are beautiful. With that cable, though they should be.
Glad to hear that you're enjoying them!

If the sound matches the spec, it would be a good deal

My impression (from reading) is that this brand is always kinda odd in the way they voice their IEM. Haven’t tried anything from them yet, though.

Yep, the GK100 is easily one of the most technical/analytical IEMs under $200 USD. You can hear some fine ghost hits of drums and audience sounds that other similarly priced IEMs cannot pick up. Super resolving and can even be used for stage monitoring or audio work as such.

But it sacrifices tonality/timbre for outright technical brilliance, so it sounds a bit sterile and not "musical". So pick your poison haha.

This is what happens when an audiophile dad who watches lots of audio review rankings that use "S" Tier grades.

23.jpg

BTW how did this "S" tier business come about? "A" to "F" grades are kind self explanatory, but something probably superceded a previously grade "A" IEM to warrant throwing the "S" grade out? But what happens when something supercedes this "S" tier ranked IEM next time? Would it be better to go back and rerank IEM grades so as to fit them in a "A" to "F" system (with "+" and "-" inside the grading too?)

Well, better than multi-kilobuck IEMs that have no technical chop because they are supposed to be "musical" and "analogue" and "soulful" (if you know, you know )

I'm excited for the GK200 based on your description. But I think I need to reserve my resources for the upcoming AFUL flagship. Still, sub-$500 IEMs get so good nowadays that I'm not that interested in finding ones that can compete with the yesteryear kilobuck anymore. Good time to be beginners in this IEM hobby. Bad time for owner of the yesteryear kilobuck. The bar has moved to multi-multi-kilobuck due to inflation (STORM, Annihilator, Raven, XE6, etc.).

Edit: re: S-rank: haven't you played DMC? After S you have SS and SSS

The GK100 was the closest IEM to my ears, to the full-size AKG k701. All except the GK100 didn’t do vocals well, let’s hope they nailed the vocals on this one! The k701s are legendary for vocals. With all those drivers and the $, it must do vocals well, fingers crossed!

Those are super pretty! I hope they sound good as they look! But the $350 tag tho... 😅
