KiwiEar Quintet

---

I can see why HBB likes it.
and while i forgot the specific, this target is based on ToTL graph so maybe Quintet is aiming for that ToTL

No wonder Aurora is somehow a step above SR7 and P8 in terms of pricing.

The linear phasing is TOTL flagship class, or maybe even better than many TOTLs out there.

Haute Couture‘s core strength, handcrafted and carefully tested craftsmanships.

Perfect graph that I saw today.

Clean bass without bass bleed, the aurora also have perfectly little boost on lower treble at exact 6khz, anti sibilance dip at 7khz, and boosted 8khz for air and those extension. Perfectly match my own target, and much better than lot of multikilobucks IEM that I've tried.
Just the pinna gain of my personal preference that i prefer lower quantity little bit at +8db from neutral point. But seriously this tuning is flagship tuning.
How much is the aurora and the driver config?

The quintet is tuned greatly too though need little bit polish work especially on high extension, the IEM world tuning is getting better and better. Just about the time until true giant killer is born on this era or at least close to.

The race is on! We need a sub-$200 Empire Ears Odin killer BEFORE a generative AI is born and proceeds to kill us all off...

P8 would like a word with you :dt880smile:

I'm not 100% happy with the soundstage, so if AFUL can somehow do the soundstage as well as big bois, that's it for me. Besides the soundstage, everything from tuning to bass quality to treble extension to resolution pretty much matches all the good kilobucks that I have tried. If AFUL or AuR or other whatever other brand can finally match the soundstage of the likes of U12t and Andromeda, I say it's time for me to save up for the likes of STORM, Annihilator 2023, Mentor, to hear the "next-gen", because the rank of "current-gen TOTL" has been breached.

Audiosense T800 is still on sale on AliExpress ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

EPZ 620 appears to be MMCX as well.
Not buying Audiosense ever again after a faulty on arrival AQ4 that they wouldn't replace.
EPZ 620 does look nice
Any other MMCX suggestions circa $200?

Do you like L-shaped, sub-bass focused IEM? Have a look at FiiO FH15. There should be some discount at this time.

The Summer Sale is failing to get me excited about anything. The damn Raptgo Bridge is so awesome that it’s obscuring my view of everything else. It’s amazing that there was/is no hype around this set.
It looks too much like the Tape, people probably still have PTSD 😂

Yeah, I think it is going to be good. I have heard good things, and want to try it myself. Will be a great benchmark if anything else.

After listening Aurora for half a day, now I have a better understanding.

If Moondrop’s 4+2 is called “Blessing“, AuR’s 6+2 Aurora maybe referred as “Zeus Ex Machina”

Aurora certainly has the core essence of what Moondrop perfected with B3, and took it to Blessing 5 level.

B3 still had a weakness of “slow” DD, making it another “hybrid syndrome“, and is somehow slightly north of natural sounding line in an exchanges of resolution and staging with “same old“ Moondrop mid, that’s clear but somehow lack in layering and texture.

Meanwhile Aurora overcame all those weaknesses that B3 inherited from her sisters.

I bet even Crin had to admit Aurora belongs to better class than his A rated IEMs. Imaging projection, coordinate coherency, separation, staging, all belongs to top tier.

I can see the only weakness of aurora in Air presentation and resolving capabilities that Abel chose to go with Natural instead of Artificial that B3 diverted in perusing vocal-neutral VDSF.

This Aurora is AuR’s answer to “how to make a proper high-end vocal-neutral all rounder IEM” and I certainly can see Moondrop / Softears / Truthear will follow this path on their B4/B5, by that time AuR will be two steps ahead again though.

Long Story short, I can see Aurora will earn a solid fan base.

Hiromi’s hi-res losses album can reveal the potential of Aurora, especially it’s 2DD sound pressure, wide and natural diffusion, and analogue sound signatures

I admit they’re not the most attractive, but they’ve really grown on me. They fit great, which helps. And they sound so good, who cares what they look like? At least they’re unique and feel really solid.

This hits probably perfect for my own pinna gain prefference. Nice balance of smooth and detailed upper mid range that is never fatuiging.

Driver config is 2DD+6BA

Was a shorter night than usual for me, also have around 12 hours burn in now😁

Yes what I heard before bed is true, this is masterfully tuned IEM.

Also had a round with J-pop and K-pop, how it's tuned make the vocals clear, detailed and never ever overshadowed by the mid bass.
Agree this must hit Crins target or Timmy.

Going over to electronica the bass is also super impactful with great slam, highly resolving and on the faster side. Some of the artificially boosted treble sets can often be fatuiging for me on electronica, never here.
I know the bass is less than my favorites Serial and NP(switch on), but it doesn't feel like it should have had more bass the Aurora.

Right now I need it to stay home for burn in while I got work, tbh I want to have it with me. But this is more expensive than what I'm comfortable with at work.

6BA+2DD with no kidding implementation
750Singapore Dollar =550USD

E-Audio’s RAB now redefines how a Mid BA should sound that I feel, Sonion needs improvement.

It’s DUNU SA6 class pricing, but I have to say DUNU has lost this competition on S-tier gate keeper. Aurora technicalities belongs to flagship class with vocal-neutral focus.

The only nitpick is Knowles tweeter could use a another dual stack, making Aurora 8BA+2DD, but as it is tuned to be mid specialist, I guess this is less of a concern. Or otherwise it will conflict with 10BA’s Neon Pro in terms of overall technicality.

For mid and bass, I see Aurora surpassed Neon Pro, so this is more of a choice now.
