Anytime know anything about these stage monitors? Dual dynamic apparently in a Shure/Westone shell. Only £10. Had a fixed 3.5mm cable but I'm sure I could take them apart and pop in MMCX sockets.

KZ‘s 10th anniversary model, a new product line ESX, self developed 12mm LCP DD backed arrived!

▶︎OOTB, it reminds me of CRA+’s performance, wow great. CCA CRA uses 10mm and this ESX uses 12mm, ultra thin liquid silicone diaphragm KZ claims.

▶︎my pair‘s stock cable got a nice smell of farm land (livestock’s smell), I know why… when I attended some audit of my company, the raw materials (wires etc) were stored at warehouse full of and it’s next to a farm land. Same thing happened to this cable

▶︎ESX’s LCP falls slightly behind a DUNU Titan S, or HOLA class right out of the box, but it has deeper bass and more energy

▶︎Tuning is focused on macro energy, upper mid focused, spacious expression focused Gorilla.

When you compare ESX with Timeless (Crinacle rated as “Neutral with Sub-bass boost” and Thieaudio Elixir) ESX has slightly higher Gorilla power on lower bass shelf, but rest of spectrum is pretty similar.

▶︎Interesting throw from KZ, it was only recent that their single DD reached to driver with treble detail articulation capability

▶︎Transient response is that of LCP, slightly less focused than Aria, but that’s current state, LCP type generally has poor performance right out of the box

▶︎Timbre is organic, probably best of KZ/CCA. Worth to claim it as 10th anniversary.

@PhonoPhi Thanks to bring ESX on my radar! It has what it to claim as KZ’s LCP. I will burn-in to see if ESX would come up to Aria / Titan S / HOLA class!

I’m glad to know KZ now has capabilities in LCP arena as well, KZ should re-challenge MST+BA+SPD+LCP… After numerous beta test with their try and error, KZ certainly is learning, about a time to come up with fun challenges

MST for UHF, BA for HF, SPD for MID, LCP for bass.

ESX happened to stood out for me out very good recent "budget by price" CRA, CRA+ and EDAs.
With wide-bore tips (TRI Clarion for me), the bass is not overwhelming, and most importantly authorative, meaty but not tubby, as many DD, like thick-skin drums (?)

Here is my ESX with a colour matching cable from XINHS (blue color is the best for electrons In blue cables my Hi-Fi trust stands )

I have a second pair on the way. I will be curious to try filter & venting modes along great lines of @DynamicEars

Don't touch the dongle! Don't even let it move. Unfortunately mine is bricked and now shows a blue light only and is not recognised by Windows, OSX, Linux or DAP or anything at all.

Did I move the dongle. Probably not. But I had to connect it to a Windows PC to update and in that position it was hanging off the back of the PC into empty space. So yes it may well have moved a little as it was unsupported. I have contacted Truthears via their website and Facbook page and waiting to hear back. But right now it is very disappointingly dead.

I ordered a iBasso DC04PRO from a seller on Alix , I was speaking with Paul from iBasso on FB about my excitement on getting it. He asked for the seller so I shared. Next thing I know my order is cancelled and it says product unavailable and lost my money for now...

Sounds like someone jumped the gun as there were a bunch of sellers but not iBasso official.

All the DC04PRO pulled from ever seller so not sure what happened here.

Yes, it's possible to use 3rd party cables, but the ones that work right away are almost as costly as the IEMs themselves.

ForzaAudioWorks have the option for IE-series mmcx connectors, so do Effect Audio (their ConX works well).

Certain sellers on AliExpress can customize it to your liking. CEMA is one of them. XINHS might be able to do so as well. Not so sure about Hakugei, but usually they manage to get it done.

Alternatively, one can just snip off the plastic O-rings (the color coded circular part) that sits atop the mmcx stems and then you can use any regular mmcx cable. Then again, it ruins the aesthetics of the IEMs so I would not recommend that.

I bought the Sea-elf from this store, which included one of their modular cables and the cable had lots of QC problems.

First the transparent shield of one of the 2-pin ends came loose and I thought I might have to use a little glue, but it turned out it simply was not screwed on properly.

Then a few weeks later the transparent shield on the other side, the modular connector, came loose too. While playing around with it, I noticed that one of the tiny allen screws (not sure if that's what they are called) that hold the connector and the shield together was missing. I could not raise a dispute anymore so I tried to contact them and asked if they could help me out by sending me the missing screw or maybe tell me what it is and where to get it, but I never got a peep back.

ESX are really good and IMO they sound quite similar to Tripowin Mele. Now you can check KZ ZES, because it's 3rd and probably last 12mm DD from KZ?
