That's the only price point I would buy them at. $79-$89 range. Outside of that definitely not worth it. Muddy bass weak highs, and horrible mids. Now they look stupid cool and have a bunch of cool crap that comes with but outside of that they are terrible to say the least. Perfect for teenagers with no clue but not for people that know you can find much better for much cheaper. Still though great gift idea if you have someone that needs a average pair of headphones that look really expensive and will make most kids happy.

Not 100%.  But, the model number is awfully similar, with the exception of the "R" though.

I doubt they have the same drivers or sound as good. The HA-S400 are probably more similar in performance to the S500.

What?  I didn't buy them for $49.99.  I was just responding to another post to see if it was a similar model, but with just the remote / microphone option.
