I don't own the D2000s so I can't directly compare them.  I do find the HFI2400s to be a great all-purpose headphone.  I don't think there is one genre of music that these fail to do justice.  
 
Do note that the D2000s are closed-back and the HFI2400s are open-back.  Although, I have heard that the D2000 leak so much sound that they might as well be open.

 Well, leak does not matter when I use D2K, but I love them for bass rumble they create, open cans will not do that.

They are the most open sounding closed headphones I've tried so far.  I might just pick up the 2400s and check them out, thanks.

Ah, right, I had heard about this with the Denons. You might have to wait until the new models are available... I would think the 2000/5000 would have to come down in price at that point. But who knows. Good luck.
