Audio Technica M50s-LE for $165 with free world wide shipping.  Made an offer and got them for $150.  Nice thing about this is that they are already modded with removable cable and are covered with 2 year warranty for the headphones and 5 years for the cable modification.

I thought the D1001's were discontinued a while back... are these some sort of different version, or is it just old refurbished stock that has still not been sold?

Hehe thanks for the link. I believe their HD25-1 II's are actually refurbished, not new. Ironically I actually took the chance on them about six months ago for $130 through their Amazon storefront and it paid off. They arrived without the box, but the headphones and pouch were the real deal and weren't defective in any way.
 
I understand there have been mixed experiences with this particular dealer, but I guess my question was more about the discontinued status of the D1001's and what I've read about them not being available any more.

They're legit, problem is they're all open box or refurbished and you get no warranty from the manufacturer.

That aside, I did get my HD598s from them for $165 and they arrived in perfect condition. So I have nothing bad to say about them.

DAK (aka: Drew Kaplan) has been around for many years. He made his fortune in the 70's and 80's selling Chinese electronic gear from catalogs.

He's legit, but has had a chequered history. Google him and decide for yourself if you want to buy from him.

Third party being MP4NATION.  They are Great.  Just got a pair of HM3 for $26.66! from them (sold through Amazon as well).  Great pricing and quick shipping.
