I'm due to take delivery of the K240's on Friday so I will let y'all know what's in the box. The main thing to look for is that the MKII just has extra "accessories" correct? I will check the color of the trim on the headphones too.

Great!  Yes, please let us know.  I'm ordering a pair on Friday myself - can't pass up that deal - always wanted to try the AKGs.  Yes, MKII is chrome/blue trim - doesn't say "studio", doesn't have gold trim, comes with velour/pleather pads and straight/coiled cables.

Not that I know of. But I bought my M50s from UniqueSquared about a year ago on eBay for $89.99. I'm just now starting to notice that that was a good deal.

AKG 271 MKII $125 shipped on Amazon

http://www.amazon.com/AKG-K271MKII-Closed-Circumaural-Headphones/dp/B0016MOC28/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1328155077&sr=8-6

Which are better?  271 MkII or 240 MkII?  I gues this isn't quite an apples to apples comparison, as one is semi open, the other closed.  It looks like the K240MkII has more bass.

Yes K240 are bassy, i will never forge when i connected original K240 Studio to my Yamaha receiver seven years ago and i spent more then half hour trying to reduce that boomy bass but with no avail and that bass was interfering with mids so even piano wasn't sounding right on the song i tried so i had no choice but return them and get K271 Studio which i enjoyed for six years so if you just listening to rap and other boomy music and are basshead K240 are for you otherwise i would recommend K271. I heard K271MK II and compared to original K271 Studio and heard sound quality improvement

Not a killer deal, but Amazon regularly slashes off $20-$30 bucks off of the [now-regular] $159 price; so you'd end-up paying around $129-$139. This happens very regularly, so keep your eye on it. It usually only lasts for a couple of hours and then the prices go back up.

I may be mistaken but Tuesday nights seem to be good deals days on Amazon.

I ordered what I thought was the MKII, as that is what was advertised, from Music123.com.  They were $99 plus I got 15% off.  They were out of stock for a while and then they eventually sent me the K240S.  I sent those back after checking em out and letting them know of their error.  They have since changed the picture but it still says MKII.

My girlfriend found an excellent deal on AIAIAI TMA-1s through Hello Music: http://www.hellomusic.com/ec/DealMain.aspx?did=12980&cat=FACEBOOK%PROMOTIONS

$135 new, and they're also offering an automatic $25 off for new customers. She's apparently purchased things from this company before, and they seem pretty legit based on my limited internet searching.

Two things: I can't find a coupon code that it will accept and I read that they're not an authorized dealer. (no warranty)  Still a good price for these new regardless.
