Q701 > K601 > K501 > K400 > K240 Studio > K550 > K240 Sextett LP (mine stinks and is too dark)
 
K601 sounds flatter than my Q701, but with ODAC. With a colored amp/dac, the K601 can sound like poop and be harsh and fatiguing.
 
K601 has better imaging than the Q701 I think and is a bit warmer and less detailed. It's a bit darker too. It's a nice alternative to the HD-600.
 
Sorry, off topic..oh and those are just My preferences. Not which is best overall and for everyone. the K501 is nice, but it's soundstage is too larger for me. Larger than the Q701.

Ugh. I've been wanting to try the K601 for quite some time... but is the Objective 2 a good enough amp for them? I've heard they're harder to drive than the K701's.
 
I just bought the $40 Uptowns earlier today, so this is clearly a no-no for me, but why am I so tempted to spend money I don't have...

The is my favorite, least favorite thread.  SUCH great deals have been found on here that I have purchased.  But then again, I keep spending money and would not if I ignored this thread.
 
Examples of some of the deals I have got from this thread (all brand new).
 
- AKG K422 for $23
 
- Brainwavz HM3 for $26
 
- Philips CitiScape Uptown for $40
 
 
You have to jump on them fast, so I check this thread is often as I can.

I'm still smiling about my AKG 422s. I really like them - more now than when I first got them.

The O2 will drive them just fine.

The k601 is 180 dollars (144 euro) from thomann de, they ship to other countries. k550  is 220 dollars too, they are great deal, and thomaan de will ship it for free if your total purchase is greater 250 dollars (199euro). I want to buy one, but don't know about the US customs duty/tax etc..,  how much will it be, like if I buy HD700 from amazon de, any import duty?  anyone knows anything regarding this matter?
