London24_Header_seminars.jpg

Come join us in the Plaza 12-13 Suites on the Lower Lobby level (-1) directly above the main exhibit area of CanJam London 2024 for a series of interactive discussion panels with some of the industry’s leading experts in audio technology.

SATURDAY, JULY 20, 2024
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Unlocking the Future of High-Fidelity Wireless Audio
11:00a - Noon

This seminar on lossless audio streaming will discuss the significance and advancements in delivering uncompressed, high-fidelity audio. This includes exploring technical challenges, current progress, and future potential. The session will highlight how wireless protocols, in particular Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology enables streaming of lossless audio with minimal latency, offering a superior listening experience. Insights into ongoing developments and standards will also be shared, emphasizing the impact on premium audio products and the extension into broader market sectors.
SPEAKER: Gary Spittle, CEO of Sonical and Remora Pro

Myths About Measurements
Noon - 1:00p

Objective measurements are everywhere in audio. Never before has so much data been so accessible so easily, but is that a good thing? Join Cameron Oatley (GoldenSound) to learn why measurements shouldn’t always be trusted, why we should always take measurements with a sizable grain of salt, why we should never treat them as absolutes, and how objective measurements are often quite subjective. Most importantly, learn about what’s being done to address these flaws, to achieve better clarity for us all moving forward.
SPEAKER: Cameron Oatley (GoldenSound)

Dimensions of Binaural Audio Experience
2:00p - 3:00p

In recent years, the demand for binaural delivery of multichannel audio has surged, especially with the advent of Dolby Atmos. The perceived quality of current binaural audio delivery is a hotly debated topic within the audio community. However, when executed effectively, binaural audio has the potential to offer a truly immersive auditory experience. This session will provide an overview of the psychoacoustic principles underpinning binaural audio technologies and discuss various critical factors for achieving realistic and natural sound in binaural reproduction.
SPEAKER: Prof. Hyunkook Lee, Applied Psychoacoustics Lab (APL), University of Huddersfield

Digital Isn’t
3:00p to 4:00p

Digital is digital, it's all ones and zeroes. Except that, no it isn't. Beyond the fundamentals of the digital-to-analogue conversion process, there are a host of additional factors that can dramatically affect the sound of your DAC — and consequently, what you will hear through your signal chain. Discover how power supplies, analogue devices and circuit design, galvanic isolation, digital cables and more can dictate your listening experience. But most importantly, learn how sometimes, digital isn’t.
SPEAKER: Rob Watts, Digital Design Consultant, Chord Electronics

SUNDAY, JULY 21, 2024
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Transformative Potential of Personalized Sound
11:00a to Noon

Explore the transformative potential of personalized sound through advanced audio platforms and operating systems like CosmOS. Discover how Sonical’s CosmOS, designed for high-performance ear computers, revolutionizes the listening experience by enabling real-time customization with downloadable plugins. Learn about the evolution of audio products and how this technology caters to diverse auditory preferences, enhancing sound quality and user experiences for audiophiles, professionals, and everyday listeners.
SPEAKER: Gary Spittle, CEO of Sonical and Remora Pro

Critical Listening: How to Judge
Noon - 1:00p

Many designers use listening tests to improve the design of their products. But since the provenance of recordings are unknown, how can one be sure that genuine improvements are being made so that real progress towards transparent reproduction is being achieved. It is very easy to think that an "improvement" is better when it's actually worse. Objectively assessing sound quality is key and this seminar will explain how. This will be followed by a Q&A session when you can ask any question about Digital audio.
SPEAKER: Rob Watts, Digital Design Consultant, Chord Electronics

Ear Pads as Critical Acoustical Devices
2:00p - 3:00p

Many Head-Fiers view ear pads as simple replacement parts and nothing more. And whilst they are undoubtedly consumables, ear pads are also coupling devices that form part of the complex acoustic chamber between your headphones and your ears. As such, their mechanical and material properties can dramatically affect what you hear. Join Tal Kocen, Co-Founder and COO at Dekoni Audio, to explore how ear pads can preserve — or even perfect — the sound signatures of your favorite headphones.

Any chances Aroma, Oriolus, and Rhapsodio will be added to the bill?

Also, would Elise Audio being one of the participants mean they have demos for Melodic Artification, Elysian, Lime Ears, PMG (and other brands they feature in their shop) handy at the show?

Dunno about Rhapsodio, but Hifonix handles Aroma and Oriolus in the UK.

Absolutely. We'll be adding the brands once we have confirmation. The list will grow!
