They're OK. The frequency response actually seems nicely balanced with no obvious peaks or valleys. The bass extends pretty well and is nice and punchy without any bloat (rare at this price). The treble is not too hot or too dark - but it does get "tizzy" with percussion sounds. The part that I notice the most is the mids sound a little thick and congested to me - as though there's a thin layer of grime covering a nice painting. Again, they don't sound bad, and the build quality seems decent, they just aren't any better than other cheapo headphones I've had. The Koss UR55 is still my champion of $20-something headphones.

Ordered one... even though I have a DT880 600 (they're more similar than you'd think). Oh well, I can sell the 880 and recoup half my cost.

I need to unfollow this thread...but I can't......this thread is even worse than head-fi.. It's like head-fi's evil abominable son that doesn't just make your wallet lower like the father does(head-fi) but this ....evil son gives you these luscious deals that you didn't do full research on at prices that you CANT SAY NO TOO!!

I feel the same way, I have the DT880 600 as well (love its smooth sound). I'll sell the AD900 I have however, I favor the Beyer sound. If I ordered the T1 at $592, they're at $535 now, maybe they'll go even lower!!?

They confused the latin root "phile" that is used to generally indicate the love of in American English(could be some in British English) with file.....as in ...they just took the phonetic sound of the word.
