Is US version also called EX1000? I'm referring to Japanese EX1000 and stock cable is great.

The iems are the same, but the us version has a different, lower quality cable.

I won't call it lower quality, just different spec, the EX600 cable supplied with the US version is of high quality as well, in fact it really depends on the SQ you like, the EX1000 has a much more solid bass, whiles the EX600 has less of the bass.

I actually like the ex600 more, infact I went and got another spare cable of both the EX1000 and EX600 in case they get harder to find.:k701smile:

I'm not talking about sound quality. The cable I have just feels like I will break it extremely easily. From what I read the Japanese version is more durable

The EX1000 sold in Japan and HK (I have read) included a 7N-OFC Litz cable, labelled at the Y split as an RK-EX1000

Apparently, EX1000 IEMs sold elsewhere (like U.S.) had a different cable, an EX600 cable, which is OFC, but not the 7N OFC Litz cable. The EX1000 cable is supposed to be quite good....

The EX1000 cable is more thicker than the EX600 and is 7N litz cord, the EX600 is OFC only, the EX800 cable is slightly thinner than both and extra long. But doesn't seem that cheap or easily broken, i've had mine for about 6 years and use it almost everyday.

Good to hear, hope I get that mileage out of mine.

sony will never give you exactly what you want lol

here are the ex800 and ex1000 stock cables, the thickness is less different than you'd think but the ex1k is more supple. it also has an aluminimum housing for its 3.5mm connector.

but what sony giveth, sony taketh away, ex800 has much sturdier brass threads vs ex1000's stamped metal threads.

ex800 is 1.6m v ex1000's 1.2m

Thanks!

And what's interesting, my testing session with both earphones went to conclude that they sounds almost identical with their stock cables. EX800 was a little bit more fun sounding and I'm not sure if that was equal to more bass. But when You swap cables between them, You can hear SQ degrade in both. So that's why my assumption that these cables are different for a reason.

I have no idea if EX800's cable is the same as EX600, but here are some measurments and thoughts about differences.

personally, prefer final E over spinfits and stock hybrids or the newer sony triple comfort tips and perhaps counterintuitively, comply with wax guard smears the treble yet didn't attenuate it making the headstage less spacious and not as clean sounding. Spinfits makes deep insertion easier and the treble halfway between hybrid and final E

Thanks for this post about the Final E tips. I picked up some Final E3000 iems, the kicker is they come with 5 pairs of the E tips and some silicon ear hooks. All for about USD $50.

The iems themselves are pretty cool with 6.5mm dynamic driver, and while maybe 85% of the ex1000s, I'm happy to have them in my collection. I'll probably keep them in my bag when I forget my portable set up.

Now to try them Final Es in the ex1000s :)

From top to bottom EX1000, EX800 and EX600 with the exception of one photo which is labelled, all cables are made in China, although the EX1000 cables do have some made in Japan.
