So glad to see this thread going, ex1000 and 800st are some of those timeless headphones (not timeless the brand =P) and i can concur: 800st sounds miles better without the o rings and the foams, a bit of eq and its one of the biggest and boldest headphones there is up to today. I haven’t dare to pull the foams out of the ex1000 but i think I’ll do, they are falling apart anyway so … here we go

Sony makes killer products, the 7506 and 900ST are classics and main-stays. Wish I picked up a pair of Sony r10 and Qualia 010 back in the day. I think the ex1000 will be the same.

I have a siiiiick mod for the 800st, but people need to DM me. It's super simple if you have taken the foam and ring out.

Couldn’t resist. Sent you a message, thank you very much in advance

the tuning is behind the times, sure but the drivers are sick and worthy of any audiophile
I still keep them and replaced the foam. But the treble spike is preventing me from using them much... The soundstage is still amazing today. Unfortunately can't be used with most vocals for my ears.

Anyone else using the Azla Sedna MAX on these? They're a pretty good match imo.
