I see M1570, I upvote :)
Not sure how people are able to so easily recognize cans from a small and grainy image, but yes, you are correct - that's the M1570.

Love the sound, but you'll also see a recently-purchased set of Sennheiser HD599s, for those times when I don't want to feel like I've got an MRI machine strapped to my temples.

What is that grey component (2nd to the right) with the big volume pot?
Stax SRM D10, get's pretty warm!
The amp is good, but the DAC is rubbish. So it is fine to combine it with TR Amp or ifi idsd signature.

"We've never heard such deep and impactful bass from a miniature snowblower before!"
Get a shovel! It's getting deep around here :p

ahhhhhhhhhhh!!! what an image.
I exaggerate.

They are heavy and bulky for sure, but it's a tradeoff I'm absolutely willing to make in exchange for the sound quality. I can easily do a 1-2 hour listening session, and get so engrossed in the music that I forget all about the ridiculous contraption on my head.

How is the M1570? I just checked the specs and see it weighs 700 grams, which is big headphone territory, for sure.

At least to my eyes, it kinda looks like the big Abyss, albeit with more normal headband and earcup adjustments. How does it sound?

My audiophile experience is extremely limited so take all this with a grain of salt, but here's my take...

These headphones resolve everything. Even during the busiest musical passages, I can pick all the different instruments out, and if the mix has them separated in space I can pick that out too. In my (again, limited) experience I've never owned a piece of gear that lets me discover so many "new" elements of a song.

The soundstage is pretty expansive and I've found it will present some 3 dimensionality on certain tracks.

Attack is strong at all frequencies, but especially in the mids - the percussion and saxophone on Sting's cover of Little Wing for example almost feel like they hit too hard, but then I decide no, it's actually perfect. Give me more of that. There's a certain ability to present assertive mids without stepping over the line.

Another example would be Point of Purchase off Harry Manx and Friends Live at the Glenn Gould Studio. Harry Manx' voice is filled with sultry gravel, alongside which is an acoustic guitar that can come off sounding a bit "clangy" in my AKG K240's. Not in the M1570's. I also love the way the soundstage lets me feel the atmosphere of the studio theatre where the album was recorded. It feels really personal if that makes sense.

Or Norah Jones' Come Away with Me ... where it feels like she's standing behind me, chin resting against the back of my neck, whispering her invitation. If you love vocals, these cans are awesome.

I will say that as good as they are out of the box, they do benefit from equalization. The standard auto-eq profile in Wavelet brings the mids forward and gives everything a lot more presence, but again, not in a fatiguing way.

What cannot be seen are the Analysis Plus Silver Apex interconnect cables. XLR / XLR to V281, RCA / RCA to WA3. The most immediate, transparent that I have heard. The system scales unforeseen peaks with these.
The next step has addressed the link of CD transport to DAC. Crocodile Dundee would say: “Now that’s a cable!”
