nice mesh i just got an idea for the 325i goldies thanks.

It's nice and sturdy and lets plenty of air through... and of course as an added bonus it looks good.

Finally finished my recable on my Grado's. I installed mono jacks inside the cups incase I ever want different cables. It is Blue Mogami with Carbon Techflex over it with Via blue plugs. I know there are some flaws in it but It looks nice and is the length I want!

Not pretty (I'm sure it can be done more neatly) but sounds much better!

Great job on the cable.  What effect did it have on the sound, if any??  Want to re-cable mine for me??  LOL

I have the circumference of some of mine taped.  I also noted that I liked the sound by cupping my hands around the portion you put the plastic sheet.  So I had been thinking about how to do that.

Your post makes me wonder if it would help even more to put the hard plastic under the tape on the edge as well?

Nice work lozanoa but I am sure that cable is as stiff as a train considering you used Mogami plus very tight techflex. To each his own of course.

Oh it is. But were I will be using this I will not need flexibility. I will later make a shorter more flexible cable for it. I don't hear a difference yet but I did not plan on it.

I tried different materials and didn't notice a great deal of difference in sound, I had a bit of metal (copper) tape which may have worked better but not enough for both earpads. Originally the plastic sheet was a perfect cone up to the point where it nearly touched the driver housing but this began to muddy the bottom end. I found by removing a bit from the top edge of the cone (so there is a lip at the bottom of the pad but not at the top) this effect stopped. The pads now sound considerably better than the originals even if they look a little less neat!

Tried something like that last year on occasion of a buddy's MS1K that sounded abnormally thin, worked quite well there. I'd call it a simple basshead mod, but I personally don't think that Gradessandros which are within the usual (infamous) quality spread necessarily need that sort of bass aid...
