After giving up my SR100s I started to really miss their red and black color scheme.

So I whipped out some paint pens and changed all the lettering and colored the grills!

This is my first attempt and there are still some silver specks here and there but overall it's really really nice. The pictures don't show well but it's a really deep red, very close to how I remember it looking on classic red lettered Grados.

I recently traded my 325is for something else so I decided to make my 225s into the metal monsters you see here:

Besides the 325 earcups, I have recabled them to 4 feet with Canare Starquad and placed blue tack on the magnets as well as added the dt770 headband.

I think those sport-band Grados look rad! Especially with such prominent "antennae." Reminds me of those old headphones with AM/FM tuners built in..

Do they actually stay on well when you move around?

Does anyone have a better DIY for adding the mono jacks?

Also, what kind of glue are you guys using to put them back together? I'd want something I'd be able to soften with heat in case I need to open them back up. Thanks.

Don't know what you mean by "better DIY", but I just used neutric connectors and went to town.

Also, once you open your Grados, it should be fine just pushing them back together. No need to reglue.

I never understood why people put mono jacks on their grados.

You wouldn't happen to have pics of the wiring done, would you? Or just pics of them opened up with the mod done would help tons. Thanks.

I think I erased the pics, but I can look when I get home. Basically what you want is the tip to be positive and the ring to be negative on the jack and the plug. On the drivers themselves, the left wire is positive and the right is negative.

That helps. Thanks!

If you google TRS connector, the wiki comes up and it tells you all about it. If you run into trouble while you are doing the mod, let us know. I am sure we can help.

I'm currently trying to remove the grills to replace them with metal ones. Is the only way to remove them by breaking them? They look like they have been glued to the casing. I'm talking about the MS-1, btw.

Oh yes, you have to become very violent. I just pressed mine out and worked the rest out by means of a broach. A dremel also might be a good solution.
