Thank you. The girth and weight of the cable in my GH1 is the reason I don't use it as much. I just found out about this mod and I'm very interested.

The Grado headphones have always seemed light and comfortable to me. The cables on the other hand are like boat anchors. The kit solved that problem perfectly!

IMO if your Grados are keepers, the Beautiful Audio cable adapter kit is a must have addition!

They are keepers for sure. I am not very skilled with soldering; I'll see if I can recruit a friend to do it for me. I read the instructions on the Beautiful Audio website and it's pretty straight forward.

If you are willing to remove the drivers I'd suggest SMC jacks since they fit in the existing cable hole and are even lighter and cheaper:

Thanks for this information. It's very helpful. I wouldn't dare liberate the drivers in a GH1. I did it once for a pair of Alessandro MS1 and it wasn't easy (for my skills). But I have a pair of Magnum V7 that I purchased a while back and I might follow your example putting them together. Do you have a link for the SMC jacks you used?

One of the better ones I've used but its also the most expensive.

https://vetco.net/products/smc-female-chassis-mount-connector

If you search ebay, lunashops or AliExpress you might find better deals. Did a quick search and most of the ones I see these days have the center pin as a separate part so the one from Vetco might be your best bet at this time since the center pin is part of the jack and not inserted in after soldering.

Taking out the drivers from wood Grado headphones is actually easier than trying to get them out of the plastic sleeves IMO if you are trying to save the plastic sleeves. Just use vinegar to soften the glue and it gets much easier.

Hello everyone!!

A very dark wood for a clear sound, very clear sound.
I need to "break-in" the drivers (RS-2e) that I use for "hear" the wood, Incredible sound for now. Finally I will mount a pair of Nhoord Red, I hope.

Cheers!!

Nicely done! Next, a leather headband too, and some TTVJ flat pads, right? :D
