Orthodynamic Roundup

My experience has shown that orthodynamic headphones should not use thick cushions, it spoils the most important thing, the detail in the sound.
Look at all the stock ortho headphones with thin pads.
It's all about finding the right pad for the right headphone.
Personally I have found 2 orthos that sound excellent with the correct ear pad/mods, with no loss of detail and only improvements all around.
I'm sure there are more working combinations out there to be discovered.

It's your headphones and your ideas, of course.
But I see useless actions, not good for the sound. you have managed to cover a lot of holes. here it is necessary to do the opposite, to remove the perforated plastic at all, by these actions you get rid of the sound wave reflection.....

All came out cleanly and intact. The material in back of cups covering the vents feels like felt. And the gross colored foam feels like foam. Only part that didnt come off cleanly was one spot on foam which was probably where it was originally glued on to back of driver.

Mini-meet. YH-1 enclosure quite a bit larger than YH-2, was not expecting that. I know the driver is bigger in YH-1. Does that include the diaphragm as well or just the magnet is larger? I ask because I thought I read once that just the magnet is larger for more power. Maybe I misread or misremembered.

Did anybody see that recent Final Audio D8000 pro edition review? I cant link because HF censorship, sorry. Anyways, looks like maybe ex “ortho” engineers were hired to develop what looks like a vintage ortho style planar driver inside the D8000. Circular magnets with circular traces. Final is too expensive boutique though. However, maybe this will spark a resurgance in planar “ortho” drivers from cheaper companies.

For the Final Audio ortho, it does look interesting. Not in my price range and I've got a cache of vintage odd balls that I quite like, but I've been waiting and hoping for a "VolksOrtho" to emerge since the start of this thread. Was the old radio shack Pro-30 the cheapest one made? Who's the budget champ of all time?
