Why do I feel like there's going to be a lot of talk of the "line-out" noise.
I personally won't be using line-out, but I can imagine eBay littered with R6's if the line out noise is something that can't be fixed.

Just a quick answer to the first question from user with actual product that I see while I get to work on other questions... :)

I could not get the included coax cable to work either with ifi or the powered speaker. Both work fine with other sources. When I plug in a 3.5mm to RCA stereoncable into the line out, there are low level noise on my speaker when no song is playing. No issue with when connected to the headphone output.

It's a great portable player which I will use for travel and as a transport for thru ifi at home if I can get the coax to work.

@Joe Bloggs - what is the channel to feedback on bugs or issues.

Hi DSDHead,
1. There's a toggle in the system's sound options (pull down the notification shade to show access button) that toggles the multifunction port between line out and coaxial digital output. The toggle has to be in the Coaxial setting for digital output to work.
2. I was told that the noise may be caused by WiFi interference at the 2.4GHz band, which intermodulates into audible frequencies. Could you turn off the WiFi radio if it is on to see if this is the case? If the headphone output works fine, it is also recommendable to use the headphone output for line duty because you can see even from the specs that they are evenly matched for line output performance, with the headphone output having (inaudibly) slightly worse distortion but better THD.
3. The official feedback channel is via service@hiby.com although I'll also be watching this thread like a hawk now that product is reaching backers' hands :)

Yeah I wish manufacturers would put something into their quick start guides, or user manuals about this. New users look at the 2.5mm socket and immediately think "I'll get an adaptor" and of course that won't work at all (or even worse damage the player).

We did put a note about this in our quick start guide :)

I'm having a hard enough time getting them (him, I think it's just one guy) to respond to a Facebook message, never got a response for the emails I sent (3) and the ignore factor is real because Facebook shows you when they've read the messages. Just need help figuring out why I was charged but don't show my backing order on my IGG account. -- IGG is pretty useless as well, been trying to figure it out for weeks. If this is the kind of support we can expect before delivery, I can only imagine what happens if there is an issue with multiple players at the same time. I was very excited about getting this player, I was one of the first people to back the project but now I'm jaded and kinda' just want a refund.

Hello Benz,

Sorry for the lack of presence. Actually I had not read your replies in the time period you specified. Facebook auto-reply did, though, maybe I should turn that feature off. I thought you would like to know that I have replied to your latest queries and, you have a few more hours a day or so in which to reply on your end so that we can squeeze your order in before the Chinese New Year Holidays start :L3000: (although, I won't be taking the CNY break from head-fi and emails. But that doesn't help you get your player :cold_sweat: )

Joe - hopefully you caught some ZZZs, and have an update for us (re: fix light leak issue and shipping plan)...

You might have heard directly from our IGG operator already but--we have shipped out most of the aluminium R6 orders a few days ago, both colors. :L3000: Stainless steel orders unfortunately have to wait until the actual promised original March shipping date. CNCing and stamping chassis out of this ultra hard alloy is a labour of love it seems... :cold_sweat: Breaking news: some (not all) Stainless Steel orders will ship these few days as well :)

HiBy still got 2 weeks until CNY... If problem found and fixed - they can easily ship before CNY.

Chinese New Year is a BIG deal in China. Tomorrow is our last day of work and we come back on the 23rd. Even so we have been and will be waiting on lots of associated Chinese factories, couriers, etc. that have left earlier and will come back later...

Finally bit the bullet and ordered my first ever DAP.. the R6. I was wondering if anyone knows of a way to enable bs2b on android? I don't normally mess around with any kind of sound settings but I have found bs2b makes a huge difference (for me) on IEMs and makes listening to music much more comfortable for long periods of time.

If not, maybe I can beg/persuade them to add it to the Hiby music app!

There's something better than that in the works I think... Ask the reviewers about a certain 2nd plugin on their machines :L3000: Which should make their way to everyones' hands sometime after our CNY break (whereas the MageSound 8-ball is slated to go public sooner :L3000: )

Yeah, ok. So you got one of the first run of domestic units where people have reported light leakage from the USB port. This issue is what's being fixed in the main production run that's currently going on.

No, we did not ship any such units internationally (whereas those who received them domestically were free to return them or keep them for the light show which does not affect the display  )

I don't mind the wait, especially since my brain has been trained for March delivery from the start. I'm just happy they are at least being shipped.
No need to send John Wick to China after all.
:scream:

Not sure if it's just my unit but the wifi is all over the place. It goes from 1 bar to full bar but most of the time 2-4 bar. Even in the same room at the Netgear Orbi router, it's still 4 bar. Have rebooted the device and no change. Remove the wifi setup and re-setup again. Still no difference.
Hello DSDHead,
Sorry, that bar display does tend to be all over the place. How is actual data transmission performing at the various bar levels? It is also recommended to not sit the R6 directly on a thick tabletop, but rather to pad it with, say, a book, if that is affecting reception.

Those filters which i think spoken of are "slow" "fast" and "mini" has nothing to do with tube amp filter.

Here is some explanation. On filters. This is on Cayin N3 which has even more.

https://www.head-fi.org/threads/cay...oax-out-for-150.833932/page-242#post-13671284

There's also my own take on the antialiasing filter types here: https://www.head-fi.org/threads/cay...-pcm-64-128-dsd.802382/page-199#post-13339803

That said, the R6 also has an actual tube warmth filter option in the audio settings menu, which effects systemwide, just like the antialiasing option.

@Joe Bloggs So, all european orders will wait until you return from holidays? Mine is Order ID #782 to Spain (black aluminum).

No, I think. I'm in the UK and I have a tracking number. Allegedly, it will arrive tomorrow, even though the FedEx tracking page is still saying "label created".

Then again, the FedEx tracking page does say that the shipping information was sent to FedEx last Saturday and they still don't have the package. Then again, I've often had items delivered before the tracking updates....

@Joe Bloggs

It is very comforting to see that you guys at HiBy care about these threads and pay attention to customer feedback. You went above and beyond by showing a little technical support with a post or two there too! That's an encouraging thing for me in regards to purchasing this DAP versus a different one.

The toggle for the sound options was a good tip. It should be in the starter guide.
The noise I was hearing somehow went away after I toggled to spdif and plug in the coax cable when testing coax out and then switched back to line out in sound setting and stereo cable. Turning on or off WiFi did not make any difference. The only noise I hear now is when turning WiFi on when attached to line out. It’s a slight twitch.
However, the coax cable is still not working. Yesterday I had zero sound due to sound setting. After toggling to spdif, all I hear is white noise with the music in very very low volume in the background. Not sure if it’s the device or the cable.

@Joe Bloggs So, all european orders will wait until you return from holidays? Mine is Order ID #782 to Spain (black aluminum).

And how about the "DAT" feature? Is it working fine with current firmware with Tidal/Spotify?

Almost all aluminium orders have been shipped out, European or otherwise. That said, we have had our courier reject some of the provided shipping info e.g. for a badly formatted / mistyped postcode that can't be matched with the address (or the address is mistyped, who knows). So keep an eye out on the e-mailbox you're using to communicate with our Indiegogo staff for any additional questions.

DTA is working as defined here: https://www.head-fi.org/threads/hib...-funded-indiegogo.852042/page-9#post-13863841

Thanks for the update, Joe. My FedEx tracking says that the shipping information was received on Saturday, but it seems as though FedEx don't have the package yet. Is this just FedEx's tracking issue?
