Just wanted to say the Sony AS800AP is a great choice for a budget IEM with very good nonamped and great amped bass you can get for $15 new. It is more controlled overall than the XB50AP but I'd point those who aren't fans of EQing to the XB50AP whereas I would steer non ampers but EQ users to the AS800AP. The XB50AP is more fun and more boomy (like the Radius actually in sound sig very close) but the AS800AP is a lot more clear and resolving. Actually very impressive really. It has a mic and can be pushed very hard with an amp.

@Lohb This is the one I'd like to try adding a BA to if we ever went thru with your idea....

Who knew Sony had two such amazing 12mm designs for so little $ ?

Edit
These might be some kind of hidden secret. It is only rivaled by the 7550 and XB90EX on power and EQ consumption. I'm currently feeding them +34db at 20hz, -14db pre gain... the aurora can not take this much EQ. I have to stop at +30db. And it can be turned up scary loud on Cayin C5 high gain. Can't really put my finger on why I keep using these after comparing to XB90, Aurora, etc but I'm still rockin with them.... like HBB always says Sony throws a lot of crap at the wall, some of it sticks, even some that doesn't stick turns out to be gems. These things used to be like 80 new so get a set while they're cheap One day I will try recabling these with a non mic cable. It is also the cheapest way I know of to get just the small long/medium long/large long style sony tips in the usa.

Amazon, they are in "like new" condition for the $14 because they don't come in a box, mine didn't look used (I washed it anyway since they're waterproof)

yes my man,   only with iems though

I meant to say, only would with iems!

That is sick to hear though, i would like a bass bombable DAP more than another amp right now.

For me i never saw the point in a dap.   They were under powered, screen was small, I couldn't run 3rd party apps, and most were over priced.

But the x5iii is uber.   the sucker just came and HULK smashed on the competition.  they put all my wants into a small affordable box.

The x5 is really nice. It has everything I wanted, except bass boost. I'm looking forward to trying the viper effects in the music app. I wish the effect was global as I predominantly use tidal. I also read something about MQA regarding the x5. Hope that happens.
