I listen to a lot of Pink Floyd.  The 880s absolutely killed their sound for me.  The 990s were a nice improvement.  However, the HD600s are absolutely perfect for Floyd.

Heresy!
Blasphemy!

I was wondering if anyone on here would know or be able to help in my situation. I have DT 990 Pro's and the left side stop working one day when  it unplugged from my zune. However the right side work. I was thinking about cutting the wire and the stripping it so i can re solder the wires onto the driver.

Is it the Zune or the Pros?
Try plugging the Pros into another source.
Try plugging another headphone into the Zune.
See if the problem follows the Zune or the Pro.

for only gaming purposes would the Forte power a Dt880 premium 250 version? as in bass isnt important, but detail and clarity is.

No I have DT880's and they work fine on the zune, The DT990's don't work on anything. I like my DT880's but i miss the sound of my DT990's

awesome write up!

my question now is, If I game, and listen to electronica (breaks, house, trance), acid jazz, disco so on, which one is suitable to do that, the DT PRO 880/250ohm, or the DT PRO 770/250ohm? I am not a bass head, and will not be using an amp

I would recommend the DT880 Pro in that case. It's a much better headphone than the DT770 is in every way. It has more bass as well so that should be a plus.

I'm going to play devil's advocate.  I had the DT880/250s and found them to be incredibly dry and boring.  They would be the last headphone I'd grab for electronica and house.  But, your (and Z_X's) mileage may vary.

well, I went and demo'd the 880/250 and the 770/80 at GC, I will say that the 770/80 had HUGE BASS, a tad to much tbh, on the other hand the 880/250 was pretty neutral, and balanced, and lacked bass (no amp, iphone 3 driven) but I liked em. Would the 770/250 be another option? I wonder if the bass on the 770/250 is not as thumping

I'd say your search is over!  Get them and love them!  The 770s by nature have huge bass.

I have the 770-250 and 880-250 (both Pro versions), and the 770 has more sub-bass and treble, while the 880 has more upper bass and mids. However, I do not find the 770 to be a bass monster compared to the 880 (except with some tracks that have a lot of bass at about 40 Hz). The mids are clearer on the 880. The 770 is slightly louder (2-3 dB) from the same source, but I do not know if this is only due to random variation in the drivers.

True, but I find them to work best for what he needs (gaming and music) but yeah they can sound dry, or thin, depending on the genre. I find them more competent in doing everything than the DT770/DT990.

So just got my DT 770 250s, I have just been laughing for the past 30 min listening to music. This is seriously mind blowing what these sound like (I havent been exposed to audiophile stuff in large) so compared to what I used before (ATH m50 which were horrible sounding, and over recomended to people, to ultrasone dj1 pro, all the way to the HD555) these cans are f0cking smoking right now. Im running them unamped through reg pc sound card...sound fantastic and loud enough. It shreds horrible kbs sounding music like no other, and I can finaly tell the difference in sound quality. Still might consider an e7 or something else, but wow, awesome headphones.

I just wanted again to say thanxs for the review zombie! helped me a lot
