On the subject of YouTube reviewers I think Steve Guttenberg has the best take judging from my experience over the last three weeks with the Grado SR325x cans. Guttenberg describes them as being an experience like horn speakers, with tremendous presence, a sense of the music really happening as an event and I totally agree with him. Obviously technically there is nothing about them that is like a horn speaker but he isn't talking about that, he is just talking about the sound and I think he has it spot on.

A message from the Meier audio Corda Soul Headfi forum:
The common Grado headphone models (SR60 etc.) sound excessively bright with uneven frequency response & high distortion. That is the traditional "Grado voicing", some love it, some hate it. They can benefit from the 120 ohm output of the Soul, which acts like a tone control, boosting output around 100 Hz where the Grado impedance peaks, taming the brightness a bit.
... although the likelihood of, say, a SR225x ($255) being seriously paired with Meier Corda ($3500: sale) seems loooooow ...

out of the YouTube reviewers, I like Steve Guttenberg the most, 2nd is the cheapaudioman.

I bought the Soul for 1650 euro with shipping and PayPal included. And Jan Meier upgraded it to the mk2. Lucky me again just as with the Ps2000e

That's a great bargain! However I feel the corda jazz ff is all you need for grado headphones, no need for soul.

BTW is soul made in China or Germany?

One of the reasons I just love Grado's, as it was also mentioned recently in this thread, is that for a relatively small investment you can get impressive sound. This pair (Earmen TR-Amp and SR225e) together is so clean and open sounding with rhythm and tight punchy bass that just drags one into the music. A good entry point to what headphones can do and could also be the final solution for many.

Now that i have the PS500, Hemp, SR325x what should be next grado? I'm thinking about the GH2, RS2e, RS1e, GH4, SR225x. My budget would be 500 euros.
I went with RS2x... I really like new

I have both the SR225x's and the RS2x's. I like both of them but prefer the sound of the RS2x's. They are a couple of rungs up the Grado ladder, and their sound reflects that.

I have found a disadvantage to the Grado SR325x headphones I bought three weeks ago.

It is not possible to use them for listening to music as a background for work. You will be trying to make progress with something, writing in my case, and then you just have to stop and listen to the fabulous music instead! The Grado cans really draw you in like that, they just cannot be ignored.

Now I'm working I'm actually using my AKG K550 III cans instead because they are so very comfortable, the quality is good with them, but they do not draw you into the music like the Grados.

So, Grados are only for fun, but what a lot of fun it is!

Yep. Listening to grados while doing my college assignments is extremely counterproductive.

But also the sr225e is very good with different types of Jazz. Jazz funk
Jazz fusion & rock and even soul & funk music . For the price these are a go go for anybody starting out.

Sr325x unbalanced listening. Still haven't gone to xlr... The Midgard's non Halo output is fine too.
