Hi,
I'm looking for headphones I can use for mixing/mastering music. Right now, I'm only using MEElectronics M9 IEMs, but it's hard to distinctly hear the instruments/vocals and their sound characteristics (no suprise there for such cheap buds). So I'm looking for an upgrade.
 
My budget is less than $40, so I know I can't get much, but I want the best possible. The most important features I need are clarity and instrument separation. Ideally, a more neutral sound would be preferred but really, I don't care what the sound signature is as long as I can hear all the frequencies and sounds clearly and distinctly.
 
I've read around the forums and found that the Panasonic HTF600 and the Sennheiser HD428 are in my price range. However, people say they aren't that clear and hi-fi.
 
What do you guys reccomend?

I've been thinking about getting some decent headphones for a while but as soon as I began my research, I was bombarded by different possibilities. What I am trying to look for are headphones that are fairly neutral but bright highs. I really enjoy listening to vocals and acoustic guitars, with the occasional rock/dubstep/pop. I'm trying to stay within the $100-200 price range which is kind of inflexible.
 
The 4 headphones I listed in the title are the ones I have gathered from my research and if I am not mistaken, they are probably the best headphones under $200. I'm looking for some help in distinguishing them. I know the M50s are known for being uncomfortable and bass heavy, while the DT770s are much more comfortable. The 780s and 840s probably have better highs with a subdued bass.
 
To clear up any questions, I prefer isolation and over-ear headphones. These will be primarily used at home, so portability is not an issue. Thanks!

You might be talking about the older M50's. Those were the bass cans. The new one still has plenty bass, but people say it has nice extension, so I'm not sure if that's the same. I think it doesn't stay on your head when you tilt your head back n forth. Otherwise, I haven't heard comfort complaints. 
 
The other 2 I can't say, though the dt770 needs an amp I think.

Alright guys, Im in the market for my next, unfortunately entry level pair of headphones.
 
The basic rundown of what Im looking for is something for me to use while Im gaming on my laptop, but also a headphone to be used with my more treble heavy music like Guns N' Roses and Metallica. Ive already looked in the Audio Technica ATH-AD700, as Ive read so much about its enormous soundstage for such a low price, and that it is perfect for gaming. But Ive also read that they arent to great with studio recorded music. Only other thing Ive looked at was the AKG K240 MKII, to which Ive seen varried reviews about its sound quality, but none of its gaming ability.
 
Top end of my budget will have to rest at $150, though something I can get in the area of $100 would probably be better. 
 
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

have you thought of open cans? they're great for natural sounds. Mdr ma900 should be considered but if your just staying closed, get:

I'm looking for a mid-to-high end bluetooth open designed headphone with a built in mic.  I want it new.  It is for connecting to my PC, PS3, PS Vita, future Smart TVs that support bluetooth pairing, and future game systems I'll get like the PS4.  I'm not too versed with acoustics and sound waves and what not, but I know open designed headphones can give a "deeper" experience.  That's about all I know of sound design/engineering.  So I'm hoping someone can show me the right headphones to choose from that will benefit me.  I say the number one factor in what headphone I want to get is wireless bluetooth and it's best quality.  Then would be actual sound quality.  Then would be nice features like an optional audio cord to say connect to my 3DS.

Which open cans would you recommend? I'll be using these at home either way, so isolation isn't really necessary. I just prefer to be in my own little world, if you wanna think of it that way haha. Either way, I am planning on heading to guitar center tomorrow to try out a few headphones including the DT770 80s and M50s. I'll also check out some open cans if there are any.

An open neutral can would be the ma900. K70x series from AKG, but they're bass light. Just enough.

How would you guys compare the DT770 to the ATH-900X? From what I'm seeing, the the DT700s have more bass, while the bass on the 900X is more neutral in exchange for its brighter highs.

I currently have the V-MODA M100s, and I really love the way they sound. However, I would prefer something with larger ear-cups and therefore a higher comfort factor. It seems like the Sony MDR-1Rs might work, and maybe the Mad Dogs. Does anyone have thoughts about that and/or suggestions on some cans that would sound similar to the M100s?
 
Portability is a consideration (which the M100s kick A at), but isn't a deal breaker.

If anything the UE6000 is more similar to the M-100's than the MDR-1R's from my understanding, but Mad Dogs might be kind of close too.

okayyyyyyyyy. i've decided to change my question since i decided to get me IEMs for portable use. here goes:
 
I need a budget set up (full-size cans and amp), mainly for office and home use. Since I am using this set-up in the office, the headphones should be closed. moreover, a little (yet not very necessary) portability will be a good plus since I am going to keep packing them up on my backpack in and out the office, for i will be using them at home too (until i'll have a new budget for a new set up).
 
I mainly listen to rap music by mike shinoda, eminem, bob, but i also listen to some music by green day, fm static, red hot chili peppers, adtr, etc. 
 
Budget will be 300usd (12,000php), but I can add a lil to that if necessary. 
 
What I have in mind are the 4x series of senn's (429,439,449) with a fiio e11 amp. Will that be a decent set up? im not sure if those cans are closed enough to isolate sound tho.
 
 
Please note that availability is a severe issue for me since i live in the philippines. but feel free to just give me suggestions, i'll search em up.
