Looking for a pair of 'phones for 'Classical' music (Baroque till present composers). Headphones which will be neutral (and not awfully bright like the K701), transparent, very detailed with good soundstage and imaging and with natural sound.
Oh, and the budget is 1500$ (without amplification\source).

Any suggestions beside the HD800 (which I haven't had the pleasure to listen to....yet. But seems to tend to bright as it projects from many reviews)?

Thanks in advance :)

Strange, a lot of people say that the K701 is too bright... but to me it's actually ever so slightly warm. Go figure.

With a $1,500 budget, you need to post this in the Summit-Fi section of the forum.

I don't know anything about the ad900x but the mdr 1r's seem perfect. The mids are a little forward for great vocals and the bass doesn't touch the mids or highs.  They are a little uncomfortable though.  My ears touch the drivers, the ear pads are too small (my ears stick out), and they get really warm.  They are however comfortable for portable use.

You should also consider the mdr ma900s.

I've been really considering the 1Rs. I have never started hearing that they are uncomfortable until a little more recently. Most have said it's the most comfortable headphone they've ever worn. Comfort is a big factor to me because I will be wearing them for hours at a time so it sounds like the 1Rs might be hit or miss in that department. I'll check out the MA900s too.

SONY MDR-V55 vs. SHURE SRH 240 vs. HD439 vs. MDR-XB600 vs. Pioneer HDJ-500 ?

Long story short, I'd like comfort, decent build quality with sound matching Creative Aurvana Live. Under $100, preferably one of the above

Depends on the size of your ears. If they're small and don't stick out, they should be perfect. The ma900 should sound better, plus they cost $200. If you don't care about portability, get the ma900s.

I doubt that you will get there, but the Senn is probably the closest.

Alrighty guys, I need some headphone recommendations. I've narrowed it down to the hd598 with fiio e11, dt880 32 ohm without fiio e11, and the mdr ma900 with fiio e11. Please try to stick to the list because ive already done a few months of research on these.

Yeah they're definitely on ear.  I think you should get the M80s because of they're superior build quality.  The esw9a will break like a twig, but the m80s will stay with you forever. They should be the best bet.  Other than that, you've got:
Fidelio M1
Senn amperior

There aren't very many sealed on ears out there.  Why do you need on ears though?

I really can't stand the video game look of the m80 lol

I am new to cans and my first purchase was the v moda lp crossfade had them for about 2 months, I think im ready for an upgrade. I really like that they have very nice bass just wish the mids wouldn't get mixed in with the bass and wish the highs were slightly more sparkly... I also ordred a pair of klipsch reference one last week. they have good bass but the highs are a little hot, they are going back... any advice would be appreciated...don't wanna keep spending money budget is around 100.00.

klipsch went back and since i like the vmodas lps I ordered a pair of voda m80, I hear very nice things about them and they sound like they can be an upgrade to the lps... what else should I be looking at?
