What would you consider the cheapest step up from what I am listening to now?
I would go LCD-2 over ultrasone edition 8. Would the grado RS1 give what I am looking for? How about the new Denon music maniac line?
Hi All,
I am having a bit of a dilema. I currently have grado SR80i and HD25-1 II. I mostly listen to HD25. I do not even listen to the grado because it is horrible for classical. I listen to all types of music and want a phone that plays all types very well. I have searched the forums extensively but so many opinions that I cannot decide what to try. I want to do a decent step up. Under $1000 for phones. Here is the rest of my criteria if you could help.
1. Home use
2. Could be open or closed
3. Very good in all genres but excels especially in rock
4. Pairs well with an amp
5. Recommendations on amp to pair with the suggested phones.
I have been looking for 2 months now and cannot decide. I have been leaning towards the LCD-2 but not sure I would get the punch from rock music.
Sincerely,
Larry
Unfortunately, my price range is <$40.
I was going to take advantage of Amazon's sales but I don't have much to spend haha
Preferably looking for headphones which are closed (people can't hear your music is closed right?).
I listen to hip-hop (mainly new) such as Big Sean, Gambino, OFWGKTA, Meek Mill, etc.
I am using an iPod Touch 4th gen and a majority of my songs are 320 kbps.
After searching for some cans yesterday, I came across these two but I'm hoping I may find something better:

Thank you.
Hey,
I guess he likes bass heavy. Audio Technica PRO700MK2 ($199), Ultrasone HFI 580 ($150-$189), Sennheiser HD 25 (on-ear. $199), Beyerdynamic DT770-PRO 32 ($249, but definitely worth it). These my fav bass head headphones. Do not get ATH M50! Had them and did not like them.
Did you have the original M50 or the newer version? I heard that they changed the sound on the newer ones and made them more neutral.
Hello i was looking at a post on the beyerdynamic Dtx 710 and a couple other reviews. They say these cans are the bee's knees and his legs. Especially for 65 bucks. They were described with bright highs which is one quality i am looking for in contrast to my recently aquired sennheiser hd 380's. I read another review just thrashing them as well which made me skeptical..... I just cant seem to find much info on these anywhere. Thanx.
