Final Audio Design Impressions and Discussion Thread

So I tried the E5000 balanced with my newly arrived Hansound Zen cable and it does help bring some additionnal control and definition to the bass, and some air into the mix (better separation) as well as quite a bit more sparkle up top than the stock cable. Need further listening to do a mini review of how it impacts the overall SQ.

Anyone use a custom cable on the e4000? I've tried a couple but they change the sound quite drastically. I also tried an over ear set and found the e4000 didn't sit right in ear.

Putting the e4000 cable on my LZ A4 was a great combo

Just ordered the E5000 to replace my New Primacies. They arrive tomorrow and I'm PSYCHED.
Has anyone tried them in balanced on ZX300?

Yes I have, I posted a quick impression above about this. Balanced provides better extension up top, better bass control and definition and an even wider soundstage with a tad better depth. Mids don't change as much, maybe more articulate but the signature is still consistent with single ended. This is with a Hansound Zen cable, so it also influences the signature.

Oops, sorry, I skimmed through the last few pages but not well, obviously. That all sounds great, what I’m hoping these have over my well-loved ONPs is a greater coherency.

Mine arrived yesterday.
Final audio e5000 and hidisz dacamp dh1000.
This iem is really hard to drive, it needs a healthy amount of volume, the sound is so satisfying, holographic and detailed.

If it helps with the imr comparison I rather imagine that a lot of people on here would of got the "b stock" at £220 or so, which may even it out a tad.
where do you get it b stock?

IMG_0332[1].JPG Just got my E5000s and waiting for lunchtime to take a stroll with them. First impression: I wish the headphone jack didn't have that transparent bit as the inner wiring you can see is kinda horrifically messy. Is this the same for everyone? Can't really get a good pic of it.

Can't really see yours clearly in the photo, but I've just had a look at my E5000s and I must say it is very neat - no issues at all.

Hmm, thanks for that. Mine’s definitely not neat but sounds fine. I’ve swapped it out for a balanced cable anyway. It’s true that these take a little more to drive - had to put the ZX300 in high gain mode and still have to have the volume a bit higher than with my ONPs. Sweet ‘phones though :)
