Tried a lot of headphones at a local audio show this weekend (HD820, Focal Utopia, Eleiga, Clear, Elear, Final Audio FI-BA-SST, Andromeda S) and imo, while the Final Audio E5000 doesn’t have the same technical ability as them, it is competitive on an emotional experience and enjoyment level

I’m listening to mine right now on the subway just straight from my iPhone and I don’t feel disappointed despite having experienced such great gear over the weekend.

Both are hard to drive.
Using a phone is ok.
But... you will be more impressed if you use a powerful source for it. Me, im using MOJO and HIDISZ DH1000 DACAMPS.

If I want to use my phone, which would be better - e4000 or e5000?

I am not sure I woudl use either with a smartphone, but even something really affordable, like the HIDIZS Sonata HD DAC cable would make your experience much better, so you don't need a DAP if you don't want one, just keep in mind that both are rather hard to drive, and you're better off with getting something to juice both well

As for which is better, e5000, by a good margin, if you want the ultimate thiccness yet dynamics and sparkle that Final has to offer at this price range

That E8000 looks similar to the the Make1. Will it be the Make1 without customization possibilities? Interesting

Driver is different.
It says E8000 has Beryllium driver, which is not coated on plastic film but thin Beryllium itself.

It says E8000 retails for about 150000 JPY, which is about 1340 USD. Quite a price jump, I guess they must have put a lot of TOTL technology in them.
