You underestimate the power of Chinese counterfeit industry. Reverse engineer encrypted FPGA is old news appaarently. http://m.slashdot.org/story/155120

I have seen counterfeit iPhone that works just as well as the real one and they run the same iOS system (at least OS looks the same)
Counterfeit is not as big as Copying. They can easily just Copy what is being produced in their factories and create a new company and call their new product "Hubo" Dac/Amp and sell it for $495 and most will buy it.

There are no fake Hugos. I say we should move on.

I agree. I emailed Hugo reguarding the super cheap Hugo. Instead of asking for more info, they forwarded my email to the Chinese distributor and that person asked me for the serial # for verification. So in short, Chord is not surprised by the low price....because they know it 's still higher than their wholesale cost (not under to be a fake). People just decided to break the MSRP rule and make less money......which Chord can be careless because they already got their dough.

I don't use Android but I thought those that do might find the following article from Computer Audiophile very interesting: http://www.computeraudiophile.com/content/735-audiophile-switches-ios-android/?postid=615628

Well, isn't that just peachy to know that you could have paid $1227 for an all new Hugo ($1140/unit if buying 2 units) from Taobao... from seller with triple diamond rating no less. Yes, for the price of one unit bought from your local Chord dealer, you could have bought 2 for the same price.

Very nice John, you'll love it. More than enough of an amp section for the grado collection!

Based on my experience this is not true at all.

Have you had your hearing tested lately? The Hugo has far more power than any Grado needs – they're relatively sensitive throughout the product range. My PS1 sounds excellent driven by the Hugo. I can't go past light green.

Same (positive) experience over here with PS500....I think I never even made it to level green with that one

I also had RS2 and GS1000 in the past. No problem at all to drive these from Hugo.
