Greatly smooths out the treble and is wholly solid in the bass. I wouldn't even consider the 250ohm version (I also owned a pair of 2003 dt880/250).

so the 2005 dt880/600 is better than the 2003 dt880/250? or different?

IMO, it is better. I have posted quite a bit about the benefits of 600 ohm versions of the 880 and 990.

Hey guys,

I picked up a pair of DT770's (80ohm) over the summer and I think i need to pick up a portable amp to use with my iPod.

What would you guys recommend? I like bass (not too disproportionate), and i cant spend a lot of $ (freshman in college, not exactly a high roller yet, LOL). What would you guys reccomend around the $120 price range?
Is that even on the radar yet?

I just picked up some DT770/80 pro's and a Nufoce Icon Mobile. Taking into acount that I don't have much to compare it to, I'm pleased with this combo thus far.

I haven't had a chance to try the setup with an ipod yet, as I'm awaiting the arrival of a LOD.

I have to tell my story - coming at this from a different angle, the speaker angle.

I recently converted to BIG Tannoy speakers. We are talking 15" cones, dual concentric speakers in big cabinets here - none of you narrow towers... Cabinet volume, mine are only tiddlers at 100L. I am planning some DIY 180-200L cabs over xmas / new year.

Anyway. Loving the big Tannoy sound, that means full range bass that you can hear / feel ever note and complex detail of, I found my HD-650's a bit lacking.
I had a read of Head-fi and got a pair of DT-770 - 80 pro's.
Ah at last a pair of headphone that does something similar to the Tannoys bass wise. Ok they don't sound like Tannoy's across the range but they do pretty good bass. I was amazed to find some odd sensations in my head caused by the bass on some of The Who's, Who are you album, and a great blues rocky heavy sound with the Allman Brothers.
I am sold on this sound. The bass is there to be heard not hiden by inadequate speaker or phones design. It should be THERE and not all tight and trussed up by some small cones.

I put the phones on when the family don't want loud / heavy music on and these phones are just the compliment to my system for that.

Just now I am listening to some MP3's through my Nokia N82 and with the equaliser set flat the 770's deliver...

All our ears are different it seems.

Marilynn and I really love our DT990's (2005,250 ohm).

These are by far the best all around "Fun" headphones I have ever owned. They are not reference audio flat soundstage but they make me feel happy about my music. I think that there are reference lovers and fun "Pop" lovers and these are definitely lively and fun. A little hard to drive but well worth it.

Hey, where you get the Ed 9 cable, and how much it cost to you?
Thanks
