I need to remember to take mine home from the office one of these days. Been sitting in the box for the last 3 days. It went out for repairs and the TE8022/remote upgrade a while back and I just haven't had the time to get everything reconnected.

I was thinking about buying the Reference 20 as an upgrade but realized the thing is twice as wide as the NFB-10 and won't fit on my desk. Might pick up the Schiit Gungnir/Mjolnir and see how it compares instead.

Just set it on its side like the Nuforce offerings.  It'll totally work.

Lol. I just pulled up the spec sheets on the Nuforce Icon HDP and the Reference 20. The Nuforce weighs about 1 pound and Reference 20 about 33 pounds. Doesn't seem to be very good for the internals over the long run.

It would make for an interesting conversation piece.

How much did it cost you to get the TE8022 and remote upgrade?

Kingwa I was able to get them installed for the same price as the upgrade cost for a new unit ($90 for both).

So if I send my NFB to King-Wa, he'll upgrade it to the TE8022 with asynch for $90?

You'll have to pay shipping both ways unless you're sending it in for repairs. That's about $80 each way from the US. On mine, the buttons would lock up if used for more 15 minutes.

I might be thinking of something else but it's a pretty simple upgrade isn't it?

Probably, but I have zero DIY experience and it will inevitably be an expensive upgrade for what might be a marginal improvement.
