JH Audio JH-3A
My mistake, SPIDF is optical. (from Facebook) Uh.. what? One of the biggest reasons why I've bought the Colorfly was because it had a Coax out to fit the Coax in on the JH-3A. :| /edit Is there such a thing as a portable (!) SPDIF Coax to Toslink converter?- xz123

Not-really-necessary stuff like 24/196 and APE, but no OGG? Seriously? And it all sounded so good :|- xz123

A new high end player: Colorfly
Well, I have both the Colorfly and the HM 801 with me at the moment. And as far as I can tell there's not much difference in sound quality between both when listening with HD 650s, but the usability of the HM 801 is better. But I guess before really being able to judge the sound of them both I'd...- xz123

A new high end player: Colorfly
As far as I know it can already play wav files up to 24 bit / 192 khz, and the ability to play flac files up to 24 bit / 192 khz will be added with a firmware update. Same with the USB DAC functionality, seems that will be added with a firmware update, too.- xz123

A new high end player: Colorfly
Thanks. Too bad. Unfortunately I've just read that the Archos can't play OGG even with Rockbox.. so it's probably the Q5W or crying bitterly about the oggs I can't play :/ /edit I've just called Colorful Europe. And they told me that the Colorfly does indeed play ogg files, and...- xz123

A new high end player: Colorfly
Does anyone know if the Colorfly plays ogg files? Different websites state different things when it comes to ogg. It seems like a good thing to pair with the JH-3A, but I've got many oggs lying around so ogg capability would be neccessary. If it doesn't I guess I have to try a rockboxed...- xz123

Pictures of Your Portable Rig [Part XIII]
Guess I'll do that, too, one day. I got a new battery recently, so it would be a shame to throw it away. Any recommendations on a 32GB CF card? There are quite differently priced cards available.- xz123

Nothing spectacular, but I needed a replacement for my now dead X5L: Cowon D2+ 16GB + 16GB SD -> Corda 2MOVE -> UE-11. Unfortunately Rockbox isn't perfect yet.- xz123

The Sennheiser HD 800: The First Listen, The First Review
Good that I was told something along the lines of march-may for Germany from the beginning. I just hope it won't be even later now, due to these issues.- xz123

How would YOU amp the HD800?
Which drawbacks does balanced amplification have, besides the need for new cables? By the way, I'll use a Symphony, too - should be just good enough- xz123

Hearyourself.com custom IEM discussion thread
I'm looking for an advice for someone else, he's looking for not too expensive in-ears with good fit, so I thought, customs might be the best idea. Now my question ist: Are the AEs (AE1 or AE2) ok, when it comes to sound quality? I doubt he would buy the Cs, as that would (+shipping+customs)...- xz123

headfi & alcohol; not a good mix!! ;-)
It's probably a saying in every western country, too - for some people. Although, depending on the religious and/or cultural/educational/financial/social background there might be some regions/groups where it would be more probable to hear it, it's quite short-sighted to say it's "a saying in...- xz123

I don't regret it, I could send my Cantate.2 back in. And I have to admit, I would've bought it sober, too, someday. But maybe that "someday" would've been "in a few months".. Headphones are better than missuses! /edit Basically my thought process was something along the lines of "fu*k...- xz123

The Sennheiser HD 800: The First Listen, The First Review
*sigh* The more I follow this thread, the more some faint voice in my head tells me that it might be better to get a Corda Symphony to replace my Cantate.2 if I want to use the HD 800 someday. You shall be cursed, head-fi! /does anyone want to buy a cantate.2?- xz123
