hey guys,

an uncle of mine will be flying to germany few months down the lane for a business trip.

thot if HD800 is convincingly cheaper..i may get a pair. distant chance but not impossible.

also doing an amp upgrade..so it ll be a great timing.

can someone tell me places in germany where HD800 can be bought cheaper than rest of the world?

Unfortunately the HD800 won't be cheaper in Germany than anywhere else in the world ....

Usually Singapore is one of the cheapest places to buy headphones, esp. Sony, AT, Denon, JVC ....

Sennheiser and AKG tend to be cheaper in the USA than in Germany, ridiculous as this may sound ....

Plus I won't expect the HD800 to be availlable in larger quantities in Germany (if ever ...) before May or June 2009.

There might be a drop in prices towards the end of the year after all the fanboys and must-haves have bought the HD800. At the moment the HD800 is eagerly expected everywhere ....

Sennheiser is actually one of the only European headphone brand that is cheaper in europe than in the us (around 225euro for hd650 and 170 for hd600) but no idea about the hd800 yet since its distribution seems to be more limited and its price forced at msrp.

Yup! because in EU we pay a lot of VAT and in general we pay more for gadgets unless they are in on a closing down sale. But he can claim the VAT back if he's leaving the EU, check out on their immigration website. Then you can see whether it's going to be cheap for you as compared to Singapore or not.

It does not seem the case that the HD800 is going to be cheaper in Germany. Also it is not going to be released here that soon.

I was told that it should be here in march so the wait shouldn't be that long now

Late March is the prediction from the Swiss distributor -- for Switzerland.

I seriously doubt they will be cheaper in Germany than somewhere else, even if they are assembled/made there.
Cause if they were, then distributors would most probably loose sales over their German competitors. Especially within EU...

I expect that the certified distributors/dealers worldwide get their first batch at the same date. But that remains to be seen.

Unfortunately I've heard from someone who might become a retailer for the HD 800 that it will be probably April/May for Germany :|

To slightly abuse this thread: Are there any confirmed German dealers yet?

Don't know about Germany, but the official swiss Sennheiser distributor replied me that the HD800 will be available in Switzerland around April. Price will be 1600.-, that's about 1075eur.

$1,400 in the US.
Which convert to GBP 973, and hence a tiny bit cheaper. Not counting VAT.
