Note that if you use programs like Ventrilo or Teamspeak, you can't use a mic while using the digital out from X-Fi XM. Mic (and line) in is in the same jack, named FlexiJack. Of course, an USB microphone would still be usable.

I don't want to create a new thread for this, so here goes: Where can I find the most recent version of foo_cdda.dll? The Wiki pages list it, but behind the download link is only foo_burninate. Googling didn't give any download links. If someone could host a download, I would be very happy.

I had the same sensation with AKG K601. The mids were too strong for my ears. Grados are known to be bright, but I don't know about HD280. Try other headphones and see if the problem persists?

I don't like metal at all, but somehow Mastodon's album "Blood Mountain" sounds very good.

I'm using Beresford TC-7510 DAC. It has two analog outs, 2 coax and 2 optical ins. It is quite cheap, versatile and gives good sound.
